i'd go with AW's warranty, no way to tell how "for-real" these 3rd party guarantee places are. plus, how are they supposed to fix your laptop? i doubt they can get parts from AW... -
lets just say this. I bought an HTC Kaiser/8525 phone with a 2 year warranty through square trade (which is an ebay company). I also have 2 dinovo keyboards, a small laptop, a stereo receiver, and my 32gb ipod touch with squaretrade warranties. I'm in the process of COMPLAINING to get ALL MY MONEY BACK FOR MY WARRANTIES.
WHY? Well, the 8525 i bought which was unlocked when i bought it, but since put back to original during a restore... well, it wont BOOT UP. no power. no nothing. just one day out of the blue. So i went into the online claim form, and i WAS DENIED!!!
WHY? because i use my WINDOWS MOBILE PHONE TO RECEIVE BUSINESS EMAILS. needless to say i'm pissed off. and my next step is a bbb complaint.
The only freakin reason i got the phone was so that i didn't have to be a blackberry turd like the rest of my company. besides. its MY exchange server, and i wanted a phone i liked. Yeah... business emails. so they wont warrant me. I say STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY. -
So is it hardware problem or software problem?
It seems it's software problem. If that's the case, SQT has right to deny it, right? -
its not a software issue
no charger works
bought a new battery. still doesn't work. no power. like the board is dead
no water damage, no drops. no nothing. software. yeah right. the reset was just because it would lock up directly from the reseller, and i was using it on an att service, so i didn't need it unlocked. so its back to the att factory defaults. but get that warranty. i'm sure it will be grrrrreeeeaaaaTTTT! -
-
that i received business emails on my phone and that makes it used for business purposes and so they will NOT honor my warranty. i kid you not.
-
lol. that's funny excuse.
-
yeah. for real. so yeah. i'd either get an insurance rider from your homeowners policy (kind of like complete care from dell) or str8 from AW.
-
I always recommend buying warranties from the product provider.. Heck, why would they deny a claim? They get paid to fix it via warranty'ing company, and if they're the original product seller then they'd love to see products come back for repair/replacement. They're making money
These other outside warranty companies have to spend money to fix your problem.. they're not in the business to build and repair computers, they're in business to sell warranties/insurance protection plans. It's gonna cost them money to provide you satisfaction as a customer. Maybe my thinking is askew..but only makes sense to buy warranties from the original seller
-
oh yeah, but my cell phone company (at the time not owned by ATT) didn't have the phone i wanted. oh well. live and learn!
-
Im assuming you already know this.. So, BBB sounds like a good solution. Then call the company and ask for senior management, give them their BBB complaint number and wait for a response from the manager. Then thank him/her for their assistance.

no HTC. it was the precursor to the Tilt. this was called the TYTN or the 8525. i wanted to be able to vpn with a cisco client and use RDP and get my exchange emails without using a blackberry. and i also wanted a slide out keyboard. i might get the iphone sometime but the slide out keyboard is a godsend. lol. that's my pan on the bbb part. the amount of money i spend with ebay on used cisco equipment for my 15 branches for emergencies, spares, and cheap backups is CRAZY!!!!
I have since bought the tilt and love it. -
So, it is for business use? then why the complainin? ;P You can afford $200
-
haha... cuz i pay for much of my "business use" out of my own pocket! that's why!
-
Tax deductible!
