What are the stages, from what i know:

    1. Order Processing
    2. In production
    3. Preparing for shipping
    4. Shipped

Im in "Build Stage" according the the telphone status, and "In Production" according to the website, with a shipping date of the 29th March. Thats 2 working days away.

How can they go from still building my system to shipping in 2 days, dunno, am i just being overly sceptical?

Yea, but ive been "In Production" for 3 weeks, im assuming "Build Stage" is the same status. i.e no change with 2 days to go........

Thats unless Build Stage is like the last stage of "In Production" or something?

Yea i meant "In Production" they will probably hit us up at the last minute, its weird that they are cutting it so close to the EDD people usually get theirs a week or more before. This laptop has me stressed.

Dell doesn't have the base unit, therefore no work is being done at present.

Yea but they have to assemble them to ones specs. I wonder how long it takes for them to assemble start to finish for real.... There is no way it takes 3 weeks.

Ill be soooo pissed if they miss it,

Ive even got a customer service guy monitring my order, and he reckons its still the 30th.....fingers crossed!

Yea your prob right.......ive guess hes never really told me anything that i didnt already know.

Im supposedly getting $100 vouncher cos they stuffed up my first order (this is my second), i reckon with enough frustrated phone calls and emails they'l cough somthing up. The threat to cancel always seems to get their attention im told.

Yea if the time comes ill put on my big boy pants and let them have it. I hate being a nag....... im a mechanic so i have to deal with customers nagging at me to get their cars done in crazy short time restraints.

lol....... customers for you, wife for me.... :)

But hey, in my book this isnt nagging, weve been give an ETA, and without being told otherwise, i expect that to be met, its just common courtesy.

No i know ive nagged enough they have gotten 3 phone calls, then i realized it wont get me anywhere and.......... patience is a virtue, but i really believe they should update the order status system to be more in-depth they wouldnt receive so many order status phone calls if they did. They should definitely compensate you if they miss the EDD i felt like we had a mutual agreement and shook hands.

While a bit dated, this will explain the order stages -

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...ues/156489-dell-laptop-order-stages-wiki.html

There is no difference in terms of Dell vs. AW. The order process is the same. Sometimes there is a delay - this delay can be due to parts on backorder, etc. When configuring, you can see this by checking the Estimated Delivery link on the shopping cart config page. If there are any selections you have made (GPU, CPU, etc.) which have a lead time, you'll see it there.

The online 'order status' system is not the most accurate. Your best bet is to contact sales and they will check for you. Many times, the rep will be willing to help you and will kindly email you updates along the build process path. I recently ordered two dell desktop systems and the rep was more than happy to do this. He called so often, I ended up sending him to voice mail. :( What was nice about it was he expedited shipping and I ended up receiving a week earlier than the estimated delivery date. Granted I order via EPP but I'm sure Dell Home will do the same (checking and updates) if you ask.
