I know how to add games to AlienFX to get the lights to working, but for some reason I cant for steam games. I cant find where the .exe of the game file is located. Or wherever steam keeps them. I know of steapapps and stuff, but the game file isn't located there.

Are you looking for the steam game default folder location?

    Steam-specific locations
[STEAMPATH] -- The default location where Steam is installed
    Windows 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Steam\
    Windows 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\

[STEAMAPPS] -- The default location for Steam Games
    All versions: [STEAMPATH]\steamapps\

[STEAMCLOUD] -- Files that synchronize with the Steam Cloud
    All versions: [STEAMPATH]\userdata\[STEAMID]\

I saw that earlier, I checked common, the game im looking for is mirrors edge. Didn't find an exe. In steamapps it has a bunch of .ncf files. With the games name however.

What you can always do is open the game, look in task manager (ctrl+shift+esc in windows 7) and right click on the "task" and hit "go to process" then right click on the process (which will be highlighted) and click "go to file location"! Hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else.

Unfortunately, when a Steam game is launched, it's launched from the Steam .exe itself, followed by a 'code' to point it to the right game. They can't be launched from the .exe for the game itself, if the game even has an .exe.

You can see this by looking at the 'properties' of any Steam game shortcut (right click on the icon and then select Properties). You'll see that the target is actually the main Steam exe, followed by -applaunch *insert some numbers here*.

I've tried making it work for my mouse's drivers, to change configuration dependant on the game, but pointing it towards the shortcut just points it to the main Steam .exe. As far as I know, there is no workaround.

all the games files (including exe's) are in the common folder just like ushi said.

    try going to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\
    or for 32 bit
    C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\

inside that folder there should be a folder called "mirrors edge" or something similar

i know because i made custom themes for mass effect and metro 2033.

oh and the majority of newer games can be launched directly from the exe, but trying to do so will just launch the steam launcher if it's not loaded.

Even if the steam launcher launches it, The .exe will still play therefore if Alienfx is tied with the .exe it will work.

The .exe should be in the Binaries folder of Mirror's Edge but this is an assumption.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\mirror's edge\Binaries

    I never knew that! :OO
