My story is I ordered the M17 on Nov. 6th after my 4 year old 8200 inspiron started to show signs of failure. After an issue with the order, they redid it on Nov. 10th. Since then I have been back ordered. I've called the regular hotline and was given a bunch of different reason on the delay. Then I started calling Roswell. I learned Monday that the ATI cards and backlit keyboards will not be in for 2 weeks. This puts my possible time of arrival very close to Christmas. At this point I was ready to move on because I didn't think my laptop would make it to then. Yesterday I managed to Frankensteined my laptop to possibly hold out for the rest of this month.
I was very close to jumping ship and heading over to xotic to pick up a whitebook. It would have ended up costing me about $150 dollars more, but I would have got a 3 year warranty and better customer service. I recommend anyone that needs the M17 fast to check out this route.
To be really honest, AW hasn't given me bad CS, it's just not the answers I wanted to hear. Once I got past their basic hotline and on to Roswell it has been a lot better. I *hope* they will add a perk or something to the order for making me wait this long. I also hope that this is a quality machine. I'm under the impression that a couple of people had the ball dropped for them, but were eventually taken care of and the rest just needed to tinker with the setting to get the most out of their rig.
More then likely I will not reflash the bios when I first get it. I mostly run World of Warcraft and photoshop which default settings should be able to handle without a problem. Once Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 come out, I will start considering on maxing out the system. I will more then likely upgrade the CPU later on to an extreme model. I also will be looking out for the 4870 ATI's mobiles whenever they are released.
In the end I will be putting a lot on the line with AW. Hopefully they will not let me down.
