Hello all, I have a M17 with Vista 64bit. My system has a strange issue. Many of the programs that I have been installing in the last weeks doesn't appear in the Programs Start Menu of Vista. What is more, this issue happens with some programs: for example COD4 Modern Warfare has its links in the programs menu but COD5 hasn't.

By the way, my laptop is up to date with Microsoft Update.

Yea having the same issue sometimes, still dont get why. I dont get any shortcuts in program menu or on the desktop after installations for some odd reason.

i think you have to drop and drag into it if the option does not come up during or after install.
i think some programs dropped this function cause people complained that they had too many shortcuts in various places. (start bar, desktop, start menu...etc)

Nah there are some games/programs that still have the option "create a shortcut to desktop/start menu" but it doesnt seem to be one there after the install finishes.

vista also has a "games" location (as it did with other OS's) but i find that it seems to force the shortcuts there if no option is available during/after install...

OT: go to User CP; then under Control Panel go to Edit Profile, there may be a "Custom User Title" section under Optional Information.

if this is not there, then pm Chaz and have him activate the feature.

On Topic: i found this out by trail and error with the games folder...

Sure? cause I have the Games folder and it shows only the MS "amazing" games... anything about COD WaW or Command and Conquer...

I think this should be a Vista problem, or maybe a 64 bit issue, since my desktop, that runs XP, shows the folders when I instal the same game...

    Maybe a registry problem?

it may be an issue with your system then...ai m sure this happened to me cause i had to locate the games after install...i then had to creat the shortcut on the desktop from there...
work around is locate the exe file and drop it on the desktop.
