I re-installed windows 7 with new drivers I downloaded from DELL website, everything is fine, but not the wireless, it will never connect to my wireless. I bought new wireless N then, however the problem remains. My other computer and Mac book pro are fine for the new wireless.
Finally I figured out if I plug in my m17x to network then the wireless will perfectly running (with 160mb+ speed), it will automatic disconnected once I unplugged the network cable :( . I cannot figure out why, that was so strange. Is there anyone got same problem of using new DELL Win7 drivers? Can someone help me, I don’t want to use cable all the time.

Currently, the Dell driver for the 1510 wireless card is having issues with W7. This is being discussed here (see last few pages of thread).

For now, I suggest uninstalling the driver and then using Windows Update to install the Microsoft default driver.

Thank you kqmaverick for the link, and I installed, the name has changed to "Dell wireless 1510 Wireless-N WLAN Mini-Card". and I restarted the m17x, but it just connected for 10 seconds and off again. It says "Windows was unable to connect to ...." :(

I was using all vista 64 drivers for win7 without any problems, do you mind list drivers you installed for me? Cheers

I had the same problem. I used Ethernet at my dorm, and when I unplug it, it won't connect to any wireless networks. I tried uninstalling everything and uncheck ethernet and install the reset and the vista network driver but still doesnt work.

I ended up going to changing network adapters settings, and disabling local area connection and making sure my wireless network connection was enabled and it surprisingly works!

    Hello,

I have the same problem. It's seems that NVidia Graphic driver (NV_Notebook_Performance_Driver_V64_July_2009.exe => 186.12 ) interfer with wireles drivers.

I try to uninstall it and wireless magically goes up. I re-install NVidia graphic drivers and wireless goes down... I will try another version of NVidia drivers.

Thank you, yes thats possible, and maybe that was casued by new nvidia chipset driver, cos my wireless was fine, before I reinstall win7 with new driver from Dell.

If you go into Device Manager and in the properties for the NVIDIA Ethernet Driver, go to the Advanced tab, then for the "Device sleep on disconnect" property, set it to disabled. Once you do that, your wireless should work properly again. You don't have to uninstall the NVIDIA Ethernet driver, just disabling that property should do the trick.

Thanks guys, I've found 2 ways to fix that problem..

1, untick network card driver when you install chipset driver, or

2, install all drivers and do as "augur" said, If you go into Device Manager and in the properties for the NVIDIA Ethernet Driver, go to the Advanced tab, then for the "Device sleep on disconnect" property, set it to disabled. Once you do that, your wireless should work properly again. You don't have to uninstall the NVIDIA Ethernet driver, just disabling that property should do the trick.

Hi, I have installed ALL of the windows 7 drivers from the Dell site/ Batboys blog and my wireless did the same thing. I went so far as to blame my poor router and bought a new one, same result. But I fixed it and it is working great now with no drops.

When the new drivers are installed for the chipset I believe it was, my wireless went to crap, wouldn't hold a connection for more than 2-3 minutes. I did some looking around and found 2-3 places in the wireless/windows settings that put your wireless to sleep by default or after a certain amount of time. Stupid to have those on by default, but whatever. Do some digging and you'll find them, I was at my wits end earlier this week trying to figure out what the hell was going on :) I'll try to take a look tonight and remember where I found the specific ones and post them.

So there is nothing wrong with the Dell drivers at all, other than the making the users work to get them running as they should :)
