This is my first Alienware system so I'm a little excited/nervous after everything I've read... both good and bad.
I ordered an m15x (maxed out) and it's been stuck in 'Phase 7' now for 3-4 days. I have no problems with strict quality standards, but this is starting to concern me -- especially since the system was originally scheduled to ship tomorrow (10/31).
For those of you who have ordered systems before, is this normal?
Admittedly, I'm very anxious to get me new system. I currently have a Dell that's on it's last legs.
Any information you can provide on their ordering process is greatly appreciated.

Call them...

Maxed out? As in full SSD as well? :O!!
Wow, I'd love you to write a review on it.
Erm the website's phase scheme is buggy. Ignore it, ring AW directly -

I broke down and called them a little while ago. The agent I spoke with said that he'd have to contact their corporate office to find out what's going on and that someone would call me later today.... Hopefully everything's still on schedule.
I ordered all of the bells-n-whistles (except the SSD). That technology's just too 'bleeding edge' for me. However I did go with the 320GB 7200 RPM drive. That's the same one my Dell has and it flies!
My biggest concern is that it seems like Phase 7 is just a screwy place to get stuck... at least this long. -
I hope you got the 9800gt and not the quadro - unless you're into cad cam
.
Yeah SSd would of been expensive + the 7200rpm 320GB is the same as my own, and it's a great drive -

Don't worry... I'll never make the mistake of going with a Quadro again.
My Dell, an M90, has the Quadro FX2500M.... nVidia doesn't seem to provide hardly any driver support for their mobile Quadro cards. The cards fantastic, but I gets frustrating to have to use hacked drivers all the time.
Unless they modified my order in production I should have the 8800 GTX card. I'd love to have the 9800, but it's not worth canceling and starting over for.... especially since - knowing nVidia - the 9800 will be replaced in 2-3 months for something else anyway.
I've pretty much given up any hopes of the machine shipping tomorrow unless some miracle happens. That would have been one cool Halloween present -
-
The 9800 is supposedly the 8800GTX except re-named, so there would be no point in cancelling, your right!
-
Then in that case AW will give you the 9800gt iirc, because they have gotten rid of their 8800gtx cards - discountinued iirc
Oceanus: Same here!!!! I told them my bday was on the 26th, and it came on that day. -
I didn't tell them anything but I assumed they found out from my file.

So far I've heard nothing from the representative that was supposed to call me back and I'm still stuck in Phase 7.
It would be nice - since it was originally scheduled to ship today - if they could at least let me know what's going on.
This wouldn't suck nearly as much if my current Dell laptop could at least make it through one of the reports i'm working on without crashing.
I wonder if other folks are stuck or it I was just the 'chosen one'. -

Well I have to hand it to Alienware... Late last night I received a call from a member of their 'escalation team'. They were able to provide me with tracking numbers and my laptop did ship.
They really didn't elaborate on what the problem was other than saying that the delay shouldn't have happened.
According to FedEx everything is on track for delivery on Tuesday.
After reading all of the customer service horror stories, I must say that in my case they went to extra mile to get my machine out the door...
GOOD JOB ALIENWARE...and.... Thank You.
