I've been watching some blu rays on my M15x and I'm kind of mad. They run fine for about 45 seconds or so then I can hear the drive speed up and the picture kind of stumbles, then it starts playing fine again. Any idea what might be causing that?

I have experienced a lag of sorts with my blu ray drive(UJ-235a) also, but I changed my transfer mode from the bios to the OS by going through the storage driver and enabling DMA mode, thanks to batboy for that suggestion, but it helped and I noticed a small amount of lag as of late but nothing as bad as it was before I made the change.

Uninstall Dell DataSafe... That application constantly polls the drive causing it to malfunction.

I almost RMA'd the drive in my R2 until I figured out what was going on.

Dell DataSafe.. LOL... Glad you found the root cause. I had heard of the DMA mode but was curious to see what else could be the issue. Good thread!

    Cheers,

I tried this but it didn't fix my problem, dell replaced the drive but it didn't work either, it was the cyberlink version 8 software that came with my system that didn't work, I uninstalled it, updated it but that version still wouldn't work so I upgraded to version 9 and it works.

    Celluarm,

If you used respawn or the restore partition it will still be installed.
