Hi thank you for taking the time to read my topic. I have an m17x from alienware, it has a few cracks/scratches on it when I called alienware they told me it would be at least 300 usd in order to have those fixed ( outrageous if you ask me ) for I was wondering if any of you could suggest another way to fix scratches? I've attached some pictures of the more severe ones. I really would like to avoid paying 300 usd any suggestions? Thank you!

they aren't scratches, more like cracks and they were there when I got my laptop but alienware says they can't do anything which is why I'm here asking for possible suggestions as to fixing or possibly patching them up. Plus, they say it would take at least 2 weeks to get my laptop back, I work on this laptop as well as do my college work on it. I cannot afford to wait 2 weeks =\

if they were there when you got the lappy, it's a warranty case and AW should replace the affected panels free of charge.

they said they can't because it isn't covered by the warranty, I tried talking to them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or even if I can somehow buy like, a new case that fits it or something?

i think you should fight to get it fixed under warranty. try contacting Alienware_James or _Armando here on the forum, they might be able to help. beyond that, you might be able to find the the palmrest separately on ebay.

that's exactly the part you need. as for replacing it, i daresay you'll have to remove a fair amount of screws to get access. i may be mistaken though.

on a side note, this might void your warranty.

Yupe, it does but as you can see it is meant for an m17x, when I called yesterday about my keyboard issue; they gave me that link on how to replace it. Seeing as removing the keyboard and such is so easy; I doubt I'll have any issues just replacing the cover which seems to be held by close to nothing.
