Suitable Alienware Graphics Amplifier PSU for a 1080ti

Hi folks,

I want to switch out the current default PSU in the Alienware Amplifier for one suitable to run a 1080ti. Any suggestions for a decent PSU that will do the job nicely?

Or will the PSU that comes with the amplifier suffice? Attatched spec pic of it.

I've had a lot of cards in my graphics amplifier over the years. The only ones that exceeded the stock PSU's power limit are the Titan V, Titan XP, Titan X (Maxwell), Vega 64 and a water cooled EVGA 1080ti, but only when they were overclocked and only in certain applications. In general, a stock 1080ti is fine, especially if it does not have water cooling or a blower fan (the later is rated for something like 3 amps.) The 1080ti FE is fine as long as you don't overclock or go in search of a power virus like furmark.

If you do want to replace the PSU though (I did just because the stock one is really noisy,) the Antec VP600p and Corsair cx450, cx550 and cx650 are the closest replacements you can find that drop in without significant modifications.

 

Thanks alaskajoel that's good to know. And ahhh yes, the fan noise I forgot to mention. I'll definitely go for one of the PSU's you recommended as they don't cost too much.
