Hi Guys,
So I noticed that there aren't any links to download scrybe from synaptics.
For those who don't know what scrybe is, it's a utility developed by synaptics to add some more features into your touch pad. Two taps with three fingers, and you can access any app you want by drawing the figure that you set up for it.
Now I have noticed users from other manufacturers complaining about it, but as the owner of three alienware notebooks that use synaptics touch pad, I can guarantee that it works perfectly with alienware products.
I couldn't attach the file so I uploaded it to dropbox.
It should work fine with alienware products.

Also, a tip, alienwares have multitouch gestures already included, for instance, by using two fingers, you can scroll up, down, left and right. If you're having difficulty using that feature, simply go to you command center, alientouch and increase the sensitivity.
I hope this has been helpful.
Cheers.

I used the Synaptics Touchpad driver (in full) when I had my 17x R2 - the Scrybe functions worked wonderfully. I dont think there is any harm in directly substituting the Dell driver in favour of the Synaptics driver. Havent tried it on the 18x R1 but this might just give me the kick up the rear that I needed to re-install the Scrybe functionality.
+rep for the work, thanks for posting it up. For those that are interested, the driver can be grabbed directly from Synaptics here:

The Synaptics drivers work without issue for me. I don't like gestures and multi-touch features, so I end up disabling all of them except for tapping. About 75-80% of the time my touchpad is disabled and I am using my Razer Orochi instead.

how does one set up the gestures?

Now on the right side, last icon should say scrybe settings.... you need to draw the symbol in that icon which would take you to settings.
Alternatively, you can check the taskbar for the scrybe icon, right click it and click on scrybe settings.
Once in scrybe settings, click on the plus sign on the far down left in order to add a gesture.
Hope this helps
Oh, I didn't realize synaptics drivers are back online.
Last I checked, you couldn't get past the agreement.
Guess my dropbox link is now futile lol. -
