    In an Alienware M17:

Whats the Max temp variance I should see between two cores in a T9900?

If I'm seeing to much during bench marking, I guess I'll go re-paste it.

but wondering whats ok, 2, 4, 6, 8 max degree difference between the two cores when running Benchmarks, or what?

Also whats the highest temp i should let a t9900 go before its an issue, 70, 80, 90 degrees? This is a question for stock, but also if I over clock it.

finally on the 4850s, I notice that Vantage gets them hotter then the 3dmark06 does. I know this is because Vantage is a real GPU tester, but what is the MAX I should allow the 4850's to get. Again, if I chose to OC them, I need to know whats the max I should allow them to get, if they are already at that STOCK then I wont bother trying to OC.

    Thanks VERY much !!

Excited about the rounds of bench mark testing/configuration I have coming up. I'm not trying to compete with Mandrakes previous tests, but trying to get 'reasonable' daily use settings in place!

Mobile CPUs are typically better chips and take heat better than desktop chips. I would worry if it hits 100C but it will shut down around 105-110C i believe. Depends on what core is doing what as to variance. That doesn't really matter because one of the readings could be off.

When benchmarking in 3dmark06 and Vantage. I would think the 2 cores will be doing similar work, and therefore their temps should also be similar.

70-85C seems reasonable working temps for the CPU and under 90C for the GPU under standard load,

Does hardwaremonitor pick up the CPU and GPU?

2-4C varience between Cores seems normal, mainly 2C for me anyway.

it only picks up ONE GPU, any idea why?

    Same thing, not really worried.

Everest or Ati tray tools will both pick up both GPU's, and their thermal sensors. My T9600 sits at 3.40 ghz and never goes over 73 degrees Celsius- and the fan doesn't even hit max speed (at least half the system is cooled properly :) ). My 4850's on the other hand like to sit at a toasty 90-105C during games- and I've reapplied thermal paste to both cards many many times. (they used to sit at 110 to 120)

wow 110 to 120 is nuts.

I was wigging out when mine would hit 89-90 on heavy benchmarking. I'm happy now that they only hit 89/90 lol.

    Thanks!

Wow, you guys make my GPUs blush
When I hit 74C on the Core and 82C on the memory, it gets soooo uneasy... So can I safely turn on the heat, close the windows (-13C outside) and remove my 7 extra jackets? :D  :p

I'm not to worried about my 4850's, despite the temps. My system is still under warranty for at least 6 months, I have never had a single problem/artifact/bsod overheating or anything, and I haven't heard of anyone else having problems either. My guess is that ATI has high thermal limits on these cards, and that they can take the heat.
