So this has been like that for a while now, my tactX buttons do not work.

What I mean by this is, that the buttons have the LED, I can change the color, but in the TactX software all I can do is change the color of the three profiles. The profiles are empty and I cannot chose any keys or something - see attachment.

Is it possible I did not properly connect the macro keys when reassembling the laptop after repasting? What else could it be?

If the cables were not connected I wouldn't think you would be able to change the color at all.

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the Command Center? If so I had a similar situation when I first got my R4 which I initially thought was the actual TactX keys and Alienware even sent me a new TactX keys section to no avail. In the end they even shipped me a new laptop as we couldn't figure it out and I popped out the SSD from the R4 into the new one and the problem moved with it lol so it wasn't hardware in my case. To be honest I never found out what the EXACT problem was but I know it was software. Something I was installing was interfering with Command Center , and it was something I was installing but I don't know what. In the end with a completely clean install of Windows CC worked fine, but after installing all of my programs and usual stuff , when I tried to change the color on the TactX keys or interact with them at all in CC the app would crash. Eventually on a fresh install without installing any of my usual stuff I got it to work , but I have never been able to peg down exactly what was causing it, although I am pretty sure it was software. I messaged on of Alienware's software guys on Reddit, the guy that built CC and he agreed, the error message was pointing to software problems as well.

Sorry I can't be of more help....I always thought it had something to do with installing old versions of .net framework to run some really old games I have but I was never able to confirm it.

I know reinstalling Windows is a PITA, but if it solves the issue it might be worth it.
