Huh really? you don't have a sticker showing your service tag number below your M17x? Now that's weird.

In America, it is impossible to chat with dell support technician without service tag number... and aside from that, they currently don't have tech support for M15x through chat yet. Not sure about the M17x

Power up your laptop and hit F2 @ the BIOS. Your BIOS will show your service tag.

Then you need to speak with Dell. :(

There is no reason why they would not have your Order Number, Invoice Number, Billing Info missing from their files. Its the only way to resolve it at this point. You should have received a hard copy invoice with your system. Contact them with the Order#/Invoice# from it.

Weird your nameplate was shipped out of Miami. They had to send me a replacement as they botched the original. Shipped out of their China plant/HQ. Then again, perhaps they shipped it from China to Miami and then to you?

Give them a call - see if they can help.

If you bought your laptop from Dell I think you had to recieve a leather book with your laptop and in it you can find all the info you need. Also as Batboy said you can get it from the bios.

Also they allways send you a copy of your invoice with the system. Check your invoice number and also gather as much info related to the order as you can. Call Dell and try to sort it out.

EN: But it's hard to explain why they don't have your service tag if you bought your laptop legaly. If you bought it from another person chances are it was stolen. If not you'll have to fight with Dell :). I have talked to them myself a lot about various problems with my laptop and I came to a conclusion that they are not going to help you to a great extend until you make a clear demand for it.

Well I'm not really an expert on this, but I don't think the bank can do anything about it since you actually got your system?

The only thing you paid for and did not recieve was your warranty since they do not accept your service tag. And that can only be sorted through court I think... But then again, as I said, I'm not an expert :)

EDIT: Also you might want to read this thread as the problem described there seems to be similar to yours:

You need to press the still not helped button in the support site of dell. You should get in touch with someone higher. Maybe ask the mail of the dell CEO and email him a copy of your banktransfer and some more details of the purchase. Tell him whats happening.
