Hi guys. I was just wondering if my SLI setting is working properly because after playing games for a while, i noticed only one of my GPUs are heating up. I checked my drivers and its all up to date. Also checked the nvidia settings to see if SLI is enabled, and it is. So why does it seem like only one is working hard? LOL, I seem to have a lazy GPU. Thanks for any info on this. BTW, Im using rivatuner to monitor my temps and i havent encountered any performance issues while playing games except for an occasional lag here and there.

Could be the game you are running. If it doesn't have a valid SLI Profile in the NV Control Panel (example: newer game, older driver) this could be the cause.

You tell that GPU to stop being lazy or he's grounded!
I'm not sure why that happens, but mine is the same way. -
yea mine its the same way, like batboy said, some games are not optimized for SLI performance, so only one its working

Bloodline_41,
I was having the same issue and it does sound like you are only using one video card, I would recommend downloading nHancer or just making sure you have the SLI Update 3 installed from here. I was having the same issue until I downloaded that and installed it.
Also, once you have it installed, you can go into you nVidia Control Panel, click on the Manage 3d Settings, then click on the tab "Program Settings", here you can ensure you have a profile setup for your specific game.
There are several other posts regarding SLI issues, I'll get you a link to one here in a minute, however Batboy has some very informative posts regarding setting up SLI and ensuring you have it running.
What games are you running and are any of them causing both video cards to warm up?

can you provide screen shots after playing intense games like crysis, then you can see if one its not working

I'm actually just playing Dragon Age Origins right now so I might need to play around with the SLI profile as Batboy suggested. Sadly, I havent tried it on any other game yet. Thanks for the link Aedaric, going to check out both later to see if it'll fix my problem.
-@blasterbeam: Well, as ive said, i havent got any other game besides Dragon age. Thanks though. Ill try to work it out and let you guys know.
THanks. -
Try the SLI Guide in my signature to see how to check if SLI is working, how to enable SLI and even allow games that don't have SLI support via driver yet to work with SLI.

In your post you just said that your drivers were up to date but you didn't say which driver you are using. I'm curious.

Im using 186.40 WHQL, A01 for my driver, which is the latest one i could find. And after reading mr GIzmo's SLI guide, I got the SLI to run. Good thing I noticed about it is that both cards dont go above 60°C compared to the 65C when only one was running. Performance also improved as far as i can tell but not that much.
Then disaster struck. While playing Dragon Age, it stops then throws me out to the desktop with a message saying my graphics adapter stopped working. A few seconds later it runs again with no problem. Then it really crashes after around an hour. Sometimes it just freezes. But sometimes I get the blue screen.
Uninstalled the driver then installed it again without installing the SLI profile update so only one card would run. Runs hours on end without hiccups... and without the sweet SLI, and with the added heat to the card too. -

My MW2 benchmark was around 60FPS with Dell driver (no profile for MW2). After installing BatBoy mod in which MW2 profile is included the benchmark increased dramtically to 90FPS in 1920x1200, everything maxed out plus 4xAA. Im too lazy to swich back to old driver to see if SLI works on MW2 or not. But given the insane improvement in MW2 with new driver I doubt SLI worked on old driver.
Thank you again, BatBoy -
where can I find batboy's mod?
thanks -
holy f i just discovered batboy's blog. Looks like a one stop shop. thanks batboy!
