Some of you know about a week ago i posted that i had to send my m15x in to repairs for a bsod problem that ended up being a hardware and architect failure.. Well i received my laptop today and after an hour of use guess what.. BSOD again and noticed a gap on the right side above the hdmi port.. Talked to the alienware tech and they are sending it to repairs again.. And for my trouble they are upgrading me to second day express air.. Whoopdy doo![]()

@Gabe
Sounds good tell me how yours turns out..
@GRB
Yeah im not bashing them im just a little irritated.. I already sent it back for this problem which took me 6+ plus hours to convince them to send it back.. This time it was easier but just more problems which i dont understand how that could possibly work.. It is very irritating spending so much money on something that should be working fine let alone being fixed the first time around but thats just my opinion and i know the cost thing is over used but its true...
We'll see how this turns out -
" It is very irritating spending so much money on something that should be working fine let alone being fixed the first time around"
they should put this in the reviews that display quotes on their website while browsing the notebooks lol, ive heard almost every AW owner say this, they should really get their game going ive never seen them this bad, goodluck and keep calling them to make sure something was replaced, i would have marked the mobo, gpu, etc. with a little almost invisible dot, and see if its there when it comes back, so if they claim they replaced stuff, you have your proof lol -
that said, I'm still interested to know what parts, if any, they replaced. -
Here in old Europe, they have received my laptop 1 week ago and no word yet. No idea if they diagnosed it, what's wrong, nothing...
-
Ok sorry guys i just found the repair sheet.. It says that they duplicated my failure.. and that they found other failures during the testing..
They replaced a number of things including the motherboard, memory, video card, hard drive, and RE-IMAGE OS
So there definitly was alot of problems with this computer from the start.. Could it be from overheating or what.. How could it be all fried? -
That sucks! At least they covered and upgraded the shipping and hopefully have been good to you on the phone. Still perhaps a discount offer or a special item would help some more.
-
It's cool they're sending by Express. I've been told several times by AW tech reps they can only ship via FedEx Ground, a 6 day trip from NJ to Houston. I had to talk to a manager before getting an Express label.
-
The second time, yesterday when i just got it back, was much easier.. This guy helped me out alot and made sure to upgrade me to 2nd day and all the other stuff took about 30 mins..
As for special item or anything.. I honestly dont care.. What i really want is just my notebook to be fixed and it to be reliable especially for when i go back to college.. I just cant be doing this every month you know.. -
Let me get this straight... Your laptop is screwed up, you send it back, they fix it, you receive it, its still screwed up, you have to send it back and they will do it express... and you are happy? Is my interpretation of things right?
-
Obviously problems happen i ordered mine when they first came out so theres gonna be kinks i understand.. So i sent it back.. When it came back not working then i was a little angry and irritated but if it comes back a third time not working or if i have the same problem down the road i will want a refund..
I understand where you are coming from but I saved for the laptop i bought the laptop i jsut want the laptop.. If it is broken for the 3rd time then ill be pissed off and raging -
Also atleast the alienware reps here emailed me and asked for my rma number to follow the progress and make sure to help.. Thanks again.. Especially Alienware-James.. I was pretty impressed by that
-
I had the same of Alienware-Steve once... Never again he replied me.
I guess they do work their guts out to impress the clients. On my side, I would rather be impressed with the quality of the product I'm buying.
I'm not paying for their CS and their fancy webpages... I'm paying for a laptop. You know what would really make me happy... That I would never have to resort to a CS from AW ever. That would mean they achieved in fact, what they sell... Ultermost amazing quality.
Is that possible? Not in a million years? Should people be happy because there's people sending us pms to make us happy? Answer that for yourself. -
another knackered motherboard, thats interesting, looks like theve replaced quite a few of them lately.
me think its time i started a questionaire thread, hmmm or should i wait until i get my refund. 2 weeks now and counting.
when i sent mine back it went by air but even tho promised an upgrade it returned by road. -
I honestly dont know what to do.. If I get it back and its fine do i keep it or get a refund.. Everyone has been telling me refund.. I dk what to do
-
i didnt want a refund as i really liked the m15x BUT youve got to weigh up the pros and cons, if you keep it how many times in the next year will it spend being sent back for repair if your already having problems on a new machine.
thats why i opted for the refund in the end.
i had problems straight out of the box and was on to tech support for 2 hours on the first night. as a gesture of good will i was informed they would extend my retur policy from 14 days to 30 days. after 19 days id had enough and rang for a refund. sorry sir, we cant find any records of it being extended. you can only send it back for a repair nowas you can imagine i was slightly PO.
i thought to myself, now that they know i want a refund they will do the utmost to make sure it is fully working. WRONG. returned with a passed benchmark score of 7000 when it was 9800 in the first week. new motherboard and a new chassis. well i say new chassis,it was new to me but it had actually come from someone else as it had their nameplate on the bottom. that gave me all i needed and i cancelled for a refund there and then.
so once it is returned from repair you have the 14 days to cancel again.
the rest is up to you. -
Quick update.. I took your guys advice and my brothers.. and I opted for a refund.. The CS rep tried to give me this garbage about a 30 day policy and after that theres no refund when i had to send it in 3 weeks upon receiving it.. So i talked to the supervisor and hes calling me back in 24 hours to tell me what he can do for me and he refused to do anything right there and then..
So if he doesnt call me back in 24 hours im going to call them back and if they dont let me refund ill see what they say about me putting a stop payment on the notebook
Everyone is right i need a reliable notebook that wont break down and not be able to repair it.. I just came to my senses -
That's probably the most inteligent choise at the moment. You will have some time to think about it and study the market. The new Clevo will be out in on month (or so) and then you will have enough material to judge if the new clevo its all they have announced and if anything has been done regarding the M15x.
Good choice... You will sleep better like this. And... if you miss it and AW actually does something, just get it again. -

Sorry to hear about your trouble with the m15x. Yeah, I'd probably opt for a refund if I had to send it in more than once for the same issues too.

complete care. nuff said. If you're in college... how can you SERIOUSLY justify spending money to NOT BE ABLE TO RELY on a laptop during fall or spring semester. The question everyone needs to ask (especially if going to school and expecting a reliable laptop for 3-4 years) is... " CAN I REALLY BE WITHOUT A LAPTOP FOR 2-4 WEEKS?" and "CAN I REALLY DEAL WITH SENDING A LAPTOP IN MULTIPLE TIMES (AND THE DOWNTIME INCURRED) FOR THE SAME ISSUE, OR EVEN MULTIPLE ISSUES?" IF you can. well. i bet you have a desktop as well! LOL. All i know is that the computer labs usually suck, or are overcrowded. Having a machine die with important research, or papers, or calendar of upcoming class events, or papers, or whatever.... THERE'S NO WAY I COULD REALLY LIVE WITH THAT OPTION. Next day Service and support please! If they would just adopt Dell's support policy and techs, and everything else about dell "true" at-home service with complete care... MAN. AW would be the SHIZNIT. just like popeye's chicken!
-
Considering the ammount of time wasted to get it DONE ,the least they can do is give you that upgrade.
However,I don`t know how you people can live with sending your laptop over and over for repairs, sinceyou paid for something that should be top-notch in the first place...
That was reallll quick
