sods law im at work so didnt see the big yellow van turn up.
as you can imagine im happy now. ill try and take half day off so i can get home to see my new baby.

Not yet! I went home at lunch but it hadn't been delivered yet. The DHL website says it's out for delivery though so fingers crossed it's be v soon.

Hi everyone.
all i can say is WOW! what a beast.
its quite deceiving but it looks bigger than my fujitsu.
im not using it to type this as not conected to the internet yet but i soon will be.
now all the stress is over of waiting i can finally enjoy my new laptop.

so far.
no gap over ethernet port. no scratches on lid. all lighting is working properly.
time to go and set the beast up.

runtime error with nero. warning box every time i switch on.
also volume touch doesnt work.

while on phone he said AW contact isnt working, doh!

 

Aww that's terrible. I'd really like to know what that supposedly 200-point test consists off if they don't even turn the laptop on and check for errors.

 

try reinstalling nero. They should have provided you with a disk. If not you can download it from myhive

Well, there's no parcel at my house! Not sure how long DHL deliver to but it's not looking good. I even tried calling the DHL number but all i got was automated messages. Website still says out for delivery. So bummed out right now.

nero sorted.
remote asistance at AW is down so i was on the phone for over an hour.
even after un installing nero i got the error:

source microsoft vbscript runtime error

after resetting config manager and re installing it sorted the problem.

BUT
the worst bit is stiil to come. none of the touch keys at the top eare working. volume, blutooth,wireless etc. downloaded the chipset drivers with no change.
tech said we will have to do a total re install.
he was very helpfull but after an hour on the phone i said ill ring back later and hopefully the alien contact remote help will be up and running again.
so not a good start for me

 

Dj try installing the OSD manager off your cd or Myhive that is what controls all that.

 

MrDj....I am now very tempted to cancel my order, the quality control just seems to sloppy, what on earth are they doing with the 200 point check??? are they checking the box or something???

 

That sucks -- but remember, if you put the laptop in standby the buttons don't work until you restart (I mean, I assume you've restarted your computer once at this point, but just in case...)

 

ive restarted it 6 times after each operation with tech support.

i havnt even had chance to look in my hive yet.

 

This all sounds very disappointing. MrDJ did they say when the AlienContact service will be back up??

If it's still out for delivery then they haven't reached your home yet. Wait a bit more and see what comes up.

 

he asked me to install respawn v2.0 but i couldnt find the disc at that time.

another thing ive just noticed:
ive read on here somewhere that another member had a partition already in place when he received his computer.
ive got the 200gb with 157gb free of 177gb so whats happened to the other 23gb?

anyone want to buy a computer. going cheap
im loosing all interest very quickly.

 

Try the respawn disc MrDJ. Just follow the instructionns on the DVD case. Don't give up yet!!!

If you don't have it, then install a fresh copy of windows and install all the drivers from the CD's that came with the m15x. To be honest, I would prefer doing a fresh install, as the Respawn Disc sometimes is faulty.

 

if you didn't order the disc no problem. Restart your computer after your bios screen it should say it F2 to enter into respawn. At this point it would probably be your best bet to go ahead and respawn before you install anything. Hang in there we are here to help.

 

How can AW sell lemons like these??? I mean the M15X has been out for some time now enough time to iron out kinks etc. But now this, MrDJ just got it today and comes with a host of issues.

Wait a minute...so, on the m15x, they added a Respawn option? If so, then what's the point of buying a Respawn CD?

 

The DVD is just in case ur HD goes nuts at which point you wont be able to access the HD in the first place.
