Congratulations Rob, and welcome to the forums. That's a very fast configuration and for your light gaming it is overkill. The M9750 is a beautiful piece of work and I'm sure you'll like it if it suits your needs.

 

Well I got mine today and estimated ship date was August 1 so Im very happy... God its beautiful. Anyways mine came with vista home premium but my work had me wipe it and load ultimate and it only took about 15 minutes. I got the raid 0 2 x100's, one vid card, the 7200 and upgraded to 2 gigs of memory. Will I ever use my desktop again?

 

Yes i originally ordered 1 drive but it had the option for two when i opened it up it was a very easy install. Though you may have to supply your own screws though not necessary.

P.S. what is the optimal way to use the battery on this machine. Plug into ac adapter at 50% than charge to full take out and repeat?

seeing how I didn't get the alien respawn, what program should I use to back up the system? I have ghost 10, but it not compatible with Vista. is there a shareware/freeware software compatible with Vista?

 

dont you have a respawn cd and support cd in your manual i mean i dont know what it will do since i didnt purchase it either but it might do something

 

it came with a vista dvd and a driver cd. i would like to just restore a image instead of loading windows then all the drivers, i used ghost with xp, but it's not compatible with vista.(without buying a new version) reinstalling a image is a lot faster.

Hi i just want to confirm this with some1 who has the m9750 does your fan turn on once you turn on the m9750 or does it turn on a few minutes later cause like on nvidia display thingy shows gpu temperture and once it hits like 65 mine turns on and stays on lol but i was just wondering if it suppose to turn on when i do turn the labtop on

Hi, you wil be happy with just a single 7950 gtx im gaming with a single and since alot of new cards coming out later i dont think theres a point to spend 600bux extra but thats an option ive bin playing games like battlefield 2 and 2142 on high settings with no problems im not sure what fps im getting but im pretty sure its a good amount as ill check with fraps

When you get the system with vista and the drivers that come with it are they all the latest ones or has anyone found newer drivers to download (i only found the intel wireless driver so far that needed an upgrade).

Also can someone tell me if this is a good method to use the battery so it doesnt die faster: Use from 100% to 15% than at 15% plug into ac adapter charge to 98% take out of ac and use battery and repeat.

And is it bad to leave a high end laptop running all day on ac power without battery inside (heating problems etc..)

 

That is ridiculous . . . I don't see any harm in leaving the notebook plugged in. It stops charging at a certain point. I've owned a lot of notebooks over the years and never had a problem with battery longevity + leaving the notebook plugged in. My Sager has been plugged in the vast majority of its 1.5+ year lifespan and the battery life is just fine.

 

i leave my battery charging while doing anything on labtop especially games it might help the labtop achieve more power also...but thats a guess lol

but like if you right click the desktop and go to nvidia display it has like performance and so on and under performance you can change your battery from maxium power saving to maxium performance ive not touched it but wondering if that helps achieve better performance anyways ha.

oh ya and once your m9750 battery is 100% charged and you got your ac adapter plugged in it will not use battery power anymore unless you unplug the adapter

Is the alienware m9750 intel chipset limited to seeing less than 4gb or will the bios recognize the 4bg. Although 64 bit vista can expand on the 4gb though 32bit is limited is it better to dual channel the ram at 2gb and 2gb than just running two different brands at different sizes. People say to get two of same brand and size so is it better for me to get the extra stick. (costwise its pretty cheap).

 

I bought 1GB of ram from Alienware.

I bought 4GB of ram from newegg for $205.

I don't really care if I'm using 3 or 4GB of ram, it's so cheap. Either way it's more than 2GB.

I'll keep the 1GB in case I ever need to use my warranty.

 

if you are using windows xp what is 4gb going to do for you that 2gb isn't ?

Bragging rights? I never claimed I NEED 4 GB lol. I'll dual boot Vista, so could possibly use more than 2 someday.

For me the price is low enough to just max it out from the start.

I havent posted on this forum since I got my M9750 but I just wanted to let people know how much I have enjoyed it so far...

No complaints at all...

Its not loud at all, I thought a laptop this size would be loud but I cant even hear it...

My friends macbook gets hotter than the 9750.

It runs everything amazingly well...no hiccups or anything. I havnet had any hardware problems or anything...

The paint on this thing is amazing...it feels like rubber coating on the entire thing and it doesnt leave fingerprints like i originally thought! I bring mine to work every single day and back home again and not 1 smudge...

This thing was worth every penny...
