The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

The aim of this thread is simple. After seeing all of the negative feedback on the m15x, I thought to myself "well sure I'm seeing negative feed back here, this is a forum where people go specifically to post their problems!". Anyway, I thought it would be nice to create a thread that showed the number of folks with perfect systems (since those people usually don't post much on these forums).

So, simply answer the poll, and we'll get some good data going on how many systems run well vs. how many don't.

The real question is are the "working" m15x actually working? I mean, if I never visited this forum I would have thought that the lag caused in the game is due to a program running in background. In addition, the lag is not really noticeable unless you are waiting for it to happen. I am afraid all "working" m15x appear with the problem later, just like what happened to me and shima.

I think alot of the system are affected but I would guess that the majority of these systems, will most likely be used for it's complete life cycle. And the owner probaly never knowing it was a dud.

Poll shows 57% with issues that required repalce or sent in for repairs.

That is disgracefull for a new product..

newfiejudd, you can't base this on 7 votes. You need atleast 50+ votes for it to be accurate for something like this. For all the people that get the m15x, maybe only 10 percent ever come and post a lot here. Then, maybe 70 percent post on this poll.

Of course it isn't a valid poll Sir Travis. But lets really look at the issues the M15x have and the amount of customers that will never know the problems occur.

I am betting alot more people have the same issues but do not even know they exist. I bet the people of NBR only make up about maybe 5% of the total M15x sales. I strongly feel thi ssystem with the 8800m GTX is a complete blunder. And Nvidia and AW need to be held accountable for the individuals who have purchased these systems.

I would like to know if AW contacted any other M15x owners, and just happened to ask if thier system is downclocking. Until AW do that, the general public will nevre know the full extend of this fiasco. I also feel AW have an obligation to contact those owners and guide them through the steps to test thier system correctly, if not return it to the DEPOT for another 200 point garden gnome torture test.

for 95% Confidence with a 5% Margin of error, you need approximately 385 random samples. which would mean that you'd probably need samples (to have a more, truly random sampling) from people who don't seek to find discussion groups about their computers...

thus far the sample is highly biased towards those that are enthusiastic about their purchase (rather than those who just want to use it because it's a good computer, not because it's an alienware computer).

anyways, doing this would be nearly impossible without having some kind of contact lists of the people that have already purchased the computers... so you could take a random sampling of those people.
