    Last question.
What warranty should I go for?
Just the basic 1 year or a full 3 years?
Because that's another $300 or something and god knows every little bit counts.

And it will drop also when new INTEL CPU arrive, also i advice that u leave blue ray for now and wait until it get faster writing speed and cheaper, also it's easy to get it with swappable pay that AW have.

Most high-powered games these days don't require a CD while playing. The games take around 2GB+ storage-wise, and can be played without the CD. You can't buy one copy and then install it on 5 computers so your friends can play because you can't have the same CD-key be online on 5 different computers at the same time.

examples: (All the games you can get on Valve's Steam Software: BioShock, Half-Life 2, Portal, etc.)
    -Unreal Tournament
    -World of Warcraft
    -Final Fantasy
    -Crysis
-etc. etc. etc...I can't think of more because I haven't been gaming on PCs since all the computers at my home have become "sucky"

Update: HD DVD HAS LOST. The final studio went to Blu Ray some time last Friday just before a HD DV Forum was due to do a speech at CES. Warner and New Line are now Blu Ray exclusive. Who is left ??? lol

watch this on a side note, pretty funny.

Crysis asks me for the disc- what am I doing wrong? I'd rather not have to keep openign up the stupid double disc dvd box when I want to play.

Hellgate doesn't make me use the DVD for online play, but for single play I have to use the disc. I dont' like those warez sites, so I guess I'll just keep on truckin with the DVD.

Would you ever consider having Alienware upgrade your system to a 8800M GTX or a 9xxxM in a year or two?

for those who don't want to use the warez site (every time i've tried using it i get porn popups like the whoaness), try Gameburnworld.com....safe and has patches, fixes, no-dvd files, etc.

I would consider having alienware do an upgrade to the next card that comes out, but not for an 8800- the gain wont be worth the cost to me.

If they also tune up the laptop, like check fans and stuff, so that it lasts longer, I'd be even more "down for it."

That would be a neat option. Everything needs a tune up from time to time anyway. (Thinks about rusty bike sitting in basement.)

mrwater, you should consider getting a refund while you're still in the 30 day refund period or negotiate something with Alienware. If you configured a m15x from the $1500 starting price,
    http://www.alienware.com/Configurat...?SysCode=PC-LT-AREA51M15X&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT

    $2k will get you:

    15.4" WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 LCD (720p) with Clearview Technology
    Alienware® AlienFX® System Lighting
    512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800M GTX
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7100 1.8GHz
    1GB RAM
    120GB 5400rpm HD

Upgrade the RAM and HD yourself so you'll save a few hundred dollars and you'll have one hell of a system at a reasonable price. Also, the backlit keyboard is only $40 more and the 8800M GTX is a $500 upgrade. I'm sure the 8700M GT is a great video card, but for around the same price as you paid for the $2099 model, wouldn't you rather have a system that'll be over 2.5 times faster in games?

    That's a nice suggestion! Although I would advise to up the CPU as well to Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz (4MB Cache 800MHz FSB). $2,153.00

I can't wait for availablity in the UK. It'll probably cost $3k for the same spec though... :( I don't even game much. Is it worth getting? lol

even 1920x1200 LCD is cheaper! if you choose it in the preconfigured model, you pay it 300, in this configuration you can pay it 200$! where did you find it, I can only choose the pre-configurations if I start from alienware.com!

my config was 3650, with your link my actual price is 3330! with only 1GB RAM instead of 2GB (I have already 4GB!)

It was leaked. I'm pretty sure it's real since if you configure it to the same specs as the $2099 it comes out to around the same price and if you configure it with the same specs as the $2699, it's around the same price. There'll probably be some minor price changes in the final version, but it lets you continue all the way to payment with it, so there's a good chance Alienware would ship it to you at that price.

If you look at the reccomended configurations, it clearly shows that there's a $1,503, further adding to the fact this is the final pricing, though Alienware might chance some of the prices, like the starting price to $1,499, though I doubt they'll change the $500 8800M GTX upgrade nor the processor upgrades.

Searching for the m15x $1,503 on Google brought up this, though it won't take you to the actual configurator, instead when you click customize it takes you to the home page. I guess Alienware is preparing to launch the $1,503 model (By the way, I've posted a link to the $1,503 configurator already which will take you all the way to the payment options, though I didn't buy one since I'm waiting for the m17x, so Alienware would probably ship it to you ):

Please keep it appropriate in here, thanks. As for the gamecopyworld stuff - no talking about piracy in here please. You can use the no-cd cracks but if I see anyone talking about pirated games or how to get them, I'll have to delete those posts as it is our policy (forum rules).

Regarding the m15x - you can custom configure it now if you didn't know:

The only "fixings" I left in when I got that price was the Notebook Lock and the Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse. But those were in both. It was more like $140 less actually.

Don't forget the AlienFX keyboard, which adds $40 more to the price.

The 1080p screen costs $100 less (could possibly be changed) on the the $1,503 so there you go for the price difference.

Unless something is different that wasn't listed that I should know for some reason... I noticed the 1200p monitor was only $200 more instead of $300 more on the $2699 model.

The difference in performance between 8700M GT and 8800M GTX is pretty significant. I mean the latter is more than twice as powerful, that's a massive gain in my view! And all of that is according to the facts and the benchmarks that are out so far, before you all bite my head off lol

I apologize for interrupting the thread...

But I need to apologize for a previous reply to Aria and some biting...I'm sorry...not that there's an excuse, but I was getting frustrated wading through lots of opinions and not a lot of facts about the new Alienwares in the forum...

You know what you're talking about when it comes to laptops...and I appreciate your help and your opinions...

    HI guys, interesting reading.
I remember looking at the specs of "Mr Robson" and please forgive me if i'm wrong but, i thought it was designed to work with the Penryn chips to allow the reduced power consumption etc?

I must admit i'm looking to get a M17X, and thought that they would use the Penryns, for performance if nothig else, does anyone know if and when they are being used by Alienware (Roor maybe)

What's the deal with the hybrid hard drive? It's cheaper than the 7200 option, but is it better in anyway? I've never really heard of it before.

Also, Mr. Water, any thoughts on the touch pad. In the picture it looks like there is only one button.
