That's because you didn't own the M17xR1 with the 280s. Big disappointment with gaming and benchmarking drivers. The 4870s were much better in both regards. The M17xR2 is a whole different story.![]()

Well the R1 I think was more due to having an old chipset that caused problems. In that regard, 4870 xfire is a major fail for R2 right now so that's why I'm hoping for an nVidia solution to become available. Besides, I just hate waiting on mobility modder so that I can finally download the latest Catalysts, ATi still doesn't have it's act together with a stable driver program. -
However I hate that ATI not taking any action to fix lack of proper mobile drivers, but on the other hand if Dell is releasing gaming notebook based on ATI card they have responsibility to release drivers at least every two months. What's the point selling gaming branded product without proper support.
BTW AnandTech said ATI is woking for mobile drivers release plan " We asked ATI about this and were told that an improved mobile driver plan should be coming "very soon" "
So my guess is we can expect Diver release program March/April time alongside their HD5XXX chips. -

Im really looking forward to ATI but I have to admit that lacking of mobility cards driver support is ridiculous, unacceptable and stupid.

I been a NVIDIA fan boy for many years - well since my last ATI card was a 9800 or something.
Not crazy about ATI's lack of support for the mobile GPU's either.
So if waiting til late summer / fall for the up comming NVIDIA DX11 GPU I may well sit til then.
But I thought the R2 mobo did not support SLI ? -
this is starting to sound like the release of the w90vp's 4870s and lack of good stable drivers.

Yeah, just doesn't make sense since the 4870's in the R1 are rock-solid and stable.
The last shoot before i send back my M17X-R2
