OK, lets be adults :), is too thick a bad thing? Would it make the heat dispersion less efficient?

i've used both 1mm and .5mm on my 5850 and 5870. i found the thinner one were more better. but depends on the heatsink gap.

Kill, thanks again gents. The stuff isn’t too expensive, I'll purchase both. When the pad is applied how much compression of the pad is acceptable?

inap, thanks for the link for the thermal pads. I will be applying them as soon as everything gets here, monday.

One thing though, more better, is terrible use of the English language. Just better would be fine.

For one GTX 280m in the M17x the thermal pad sizes are:

    2x 50mm x 15mm (1mm thickness)
    3x 15mm x 15mm (1mm thickness)
    1x 30mm x 15mm (4mm thickness)

    cheers

most stores don't carry thermal pads or have a very slim selection, your best choice is to buy online.

i wonder what kind of difference in overclocking switching the thermal pads make. whats the highest clocks anybody got here with a gtx 280m stable, i plan to overclock mines past 285m speeds.

I used FrozenCPu, and purchased the same product from the link above. Ill let you guys know how it worked out.

Im not sure what speeds guys are using for the 280m, my advise go up in increments of like 10mhz, monitor temps, but most of all have fun. Thats what im planning.
