Just wondering how much paste you folks usually put on your laptops cpu's, gpu's etc, i've been using mx-2 with the dollop in middle and compress the heatsink onto the top of it method of spreading and i just put an extra amount over my m9750's cpu today and the temps dropped quite significantly, so i'm wondering if i've been too scarce with the amount of paste and what the "norm" is for the application and quantity of paste here :)

I follow the paste manufacturers instructions.

I use one elongated drop the size of a grain of rice, right in the middle of the die.

I set the heatsink in place and wiggle it just a bit in place.

Anytime I remove the sink after I've done this, the thermal paste has been evenly spread over the entire die of the CPU and GPU's without any bare areas or excess amounts.

    I use AS's instructions:

*Apply an amount to a grain of rice on the die
*Spread evenly over the surface with a cc or a gloved/bagged finger

It is also recommended to do this to the heatsink surface as well.

I just empty the entire 3.5 gram tube onto my cpu and another tube onto my gpu.

    ... .... :D ... :p

I just put about 2 dollops on each die ;)
"Daisy Daisy sour cream fresh and tasty naturally, a dip for you and a dollop for me, Daisy just goes with family so do a dollop do do a dollop of Daisy do a dollop do do a dollop Things taste better with a dollop of Daisy do a dollop do do a dollop of Daisy do a dollop do do a dollop of Daisy do a dollop do do a dollop of Daisy."

Ok, ok, seriously, I just put a little dap so there's just enough to cover the entire die. Then I spread it around with a piece of paper.
Sometimes I have problems because I have to squeeze the tube hard to get the paste to come out, but then to much comes out
I often waist the paste because of this
They need to improve their stupid syringes ;)

I always heat it up by placing it in a bowl of hot water... then put small dallops... very small mind you in the 5 dot die formation... it works splendidly for me and I get very very even coating

I use the squeeze out a an amount the size of an uncooked grain of rice and spread with a bagged finger. Works great for me! Always clean your surfaces well with arctic clean before reapplying or applying for the first time. Even the oil in your hands can cause the paste to not be as affective.
