Hi, the fist sorry for my bad spelling but no much people have here a Alienware computer.

I'm looking to remplace my old iMac and want a resistant laptop for i will demand a high CPU use, and some GPU use, and looking with a diferents notebooks, a Dell Studio 16" with i7, and 4670 graphic card, for 1099 euro. And Alienware with i5, and 260M for 1379 euro.
For what Alienware is so expensive? just for esthetic and thinks like lighted keyboard or have better rendiment and toughness for a high CPU use many time.

    Thanks for your time

The M17x/M15x have; good cooling, sturdy chasis, great looks and top end performance (in the respective class of course, better parts mean better peformance).

Alienwares are expensive because they're also boutique brands - it's like Ferrari putting out a very expensive high performance supercar. the Corvette ZR1 are sold at a fraction of the price of more 'boutique' car brands like Ferrari, Bugatti, Maserati, etc. the cars perform equivalent to eachother, but some have the name. while the Corvette ZR1 is a very powerful and fast car, it's a Chevy which isn't considered an exotic car brand.

Alienware is one of those exotic computer brands. they have the flashy lights, 'exotic' computer designs, great and authentic parts, and of course the name.

however, alienware IS becoming very respectable with their pricing - the prices for their laptops have dropped considerably and build quality has increased greatly.

They're not so much a boutique brand anymore, since Dell bought them. They're high end, but they're not just painted Clevo's and basic hand-belt desktop rigs with 3rd party cases anymore. And they're prices have come down a whole heck of a lot as well :)
