So today I spoke with my premium care rep about the fact that the 5870's came out 3 days after I had my laptop. A few days of other reps telling me it was impossible to just 'exchange' the cards I finnaly got a definite answer today: YES!!
My rep is emailing me a UPS tag to send back my Crossfire 4870's in exchange for Crossfire 5870's *and* a $100 coupon (so total cost to me will be $35 or so)
The only problem is that he doesn't appear to be very technically inclined. He instructed me to send back the whole assembly, heatsink and all of both cards. Does anyone know when you order a new card from dell if the heatsinks are included?
I'm keeping the CF cable (which he said I could do)
otherwise I'll keep this thread updated on the progress. Just waiting on the UPS email and off they go!

You have to send your cards in first? Normally they do it the other way around so there is no question. Everything is supposed to be sent as a kit so it includes everything you need but a mistake can still happen. I would have them send the cards first if possible.

Thought I'd update it. Was unable to find a parts sales rep that was able to purchase the cards for the online configurator's price (my CS rep instructed me to talk to a parts/ sales rep) Explained this to him and I am awaiting a reponse, but at this point it's a flop for the reason I figured it would be. I did end up with a $100 coupon though.
This is why you buy premium care/GPU question
