Ok, I know this might sound weird.. but
Touchpads is a very important key when I buy laptops ; but since I'm getting an alienware I know I wouldn't give a damn -- just wondering if I should buy a mouse or not. You know when you click, is it rough? It looks rough to me.
I'm wondering your experiences with the touch pad for alienware laptops. (Lol, that sounds kind of .. wrong?)
Sorry for the weird question xD

Get a mouse. The only decent touch pad is on the M11x and I still use a wireless mouse for that.
-
The M11x has an awesome trackpad. Invest in a mouse. Goodluck gaming on a trackpad!
-
yup, until the thing is fixed, an external mouse is a must pretty much.

Touchpad is pretty awful, but still usable. No real issues with it myself. But I would still like a fix.

I never (well almost never) use my touchpad because it's so uncomfortable, my sister's dell studio has a better more functional touchpad :s

They are currently working on a fix for the polling for the touchpad. I would get a mouse anyways cuz its not the most fun to try and aim or control a player with a touchpad.

I haven't had any problem with my touchpad, but I don't use it very often unless on a trip. For my wrists -which I slammed down on the ice this past January- I use a Logitech trackball. Feels great! Most people hate 'em as much as pads, though.

The M11x has a great touchpad!
Though the M15x and M17x are really kinda bad... -
Ive only had an m17x R1 for a little while, its a replacement, and its about to be replaced again with an R2 version. So from the standpoint of the r1 the trackpad is terrible. From what i understand its got a really bad poll rate so it doesnt track your finger very frequently. Aside from that the texture of it sucks imo, my finger just does not want to slide on it.. it kind of jumps around. To top it all off, once again in my opinion, i think its set a little far back from closest edge to your body so i always end up trying to click just underneat the buttons. The last part could totally be me but i thought you might care since they seem important to you. Definitely get a mouse

I find it fine. Probably because I've have been using crappy touchpads for the last 10 years without knowing it. I guess I've gotten used to low polling rates lol.
Touch pad concern..
