I've read plenty about users having a laggy touchpad and bad touch controls, but I have found no answers to this so far...notebook review, I bequest thy help!
I don't exactly have touchpad LAG...it stops and starts working intermittently, usually for an annoyingly long time (up to 3 seconds at a time!)
Also, the touch controls don't work AT ALL.
Now for the unusual part...
This only happens on battery power!
On AC everything works just fine. werid.
Thanks!

Hi,
It sounds like a software issue. I would removed the synaptics driver and install the new one on the Alienware website. It seems like everyone is having fairly good luck with it. If it fails, just remove the touchpad driver all together and let windows install it (remember that it requires a restart with no synaptics driver to work). Also, as far as the touch controls, I would imagine there's software for that as well. Perhaps a reinstall of that software will do the trick.

Yea, try a reinstallation of the latest touchpad drivers.

Update:
reinstalling new drivers didn't help, but uninstalling the drivers and letting windows replace them worked perfectly.
The quicktouch control problem is still present, though. After another test, it is only present without AC power. On startup without plugged in, the quicktouch don't respond at all. After plugging in, they work and remain working after I unplug. Driver issues? -
Hi,
Is there a driver or application for the touch controls? Maybe there's an issue there.

The newest beta bios fixed the touch controls issues for me.

You should be able to reinstall the WHQL alienware drivers now that windows has installed the native drivers and regain some of the synaptics functionality.
Download and burn this to a disc and flash your bios to fix the quicktouch issues:
Multimedia Board BIOS v41
This BIOS image update is presented in an ISO format, and may be used to create a bootable CD-ROM with all the necessary files to flash your BIOS. Apply this update ONLY if you are experiencing problems with your system.
Features and fixes in this BIOS release:
Increases finger touch button sensitivity
You can find this on the Alienware "My Hive" support page under:

there's a v41 release of the BIOS, and there aren't 12092398 threads on it yet?
-
Looks like it's just a 'Multimedia Board' BIOS to increase touch button sensitivity... If that makes any sense
