I uninstalled the Synaptics touch-pad driver (I think), restarted windows and too my surprise my touchpad still worked.

Did windows install a new driver automatically or am i still on the synaptics driver? How do I check?

    Thanks

Its a windows default driver. Nothing to worry about. Check DeviceManager to confirm - look under 'Mice and Other Pointing Devices'

It will be using the default driver, which means no more scrolling with the sides of the touchpad, and you'll probably notice it won't be as responsive.

    Actually...its complete opposite.

Its more responsive and I still get the scrolling.

Really? Because when I installed Windows 7 on my laptop yesterday, there was no scrolling, and it was less responsive.

    Thats good to know...

I absolutely hate the synamtics driver, scrolling is all over the place. Looks like I'm not updating to win7 till the synamtics driver gets an update

    Maybe because of Win7?

I also found that using the windows driver was infinitely better :D. I don't have a horizontal scroll zone though, only vertical.

The touchpad driver is pointless, it works fine without it. Even the scrolling still functions fine, apart from horizontal scroll for me.
