    Hi there,

I did a search and have failed to find the answer and yes, I'm a noob, sorry....

Ok... Alienware M17x - hot computer and all... But... Has too many lights :)

So I set up the Command Centre, had some fun... Then went to play a cool game and turned the Fx all off.... All except the Touchpad (and the Media Centre).

Ok, the Media Centre I understand, that may stay on, though I'd love it if you could turn it off too... But the Touchpad.... I don't even use the Touchpad, I have a mouse on the side :)

How can I turn the light that illuminates the Touchpad off?

Here's what I've tried so far....

FN + F11 and turns off all the keyboards, speakers and that's cool... But leaves Touchpad and Media Centre on

Tried to turn the Touchpad to the colour 'Black' in the Command Centre. Didn't allow it :(

Tried reinstalling the Command Centre.... Nothing :(

    Any help?

(and sorry for this too - I have one more question not related so I will post a new thread, but for the sake of it I will also ask here).

    Question (unrelated to original topic):

When you push the Num Lock key or the Caps Lock key a small notification in the bottom right of the screen pops up.

Incredibley annoying when you're in a game that requires full screen and uses Num Lock to turn on and off functions.

Any ideas how to stop the Num Lock key notification?

OMG - It is that simple!!!

Thank you for that - I really do appreciate your reply :)

Funny, I spent a long time on the phone to Dell - and they didn't know how to do it!!!

    Thanks again.

Mine is Fn + F11 to turn all lights on or dark mode.

I agree with you JOSEHARTFORD - the touch pad is really poor comparing to other lappies I use. but I am also very used to external mice, so they're y preference.

The keyboard on the M17x is one of the best I have come across though - so swings and roundabouts I guess :)

All good now though :) - just need to solve my numberlock notification issue now and I have the near perfect computer!

Ok Im on my laptop now and I was talking about Fn + F12. No need to do all that to get touchpad LED off. Just: Fn + F12.

When I push Fn + F12 my touchpad stops working - which is ok if I do have the other mouse plugged in - but, low and behold, today... My mouse is otherwise preoccupied - so Fn + F12 is awesome but not working for me today haha!
