    LOL, that's one solution.

Open task manager, go to the processes tab and see if there's an osd.exe process. Make sure you've clicked "show processes from all users". If it osd.exe exists, you can try to kill it. Not sure what other repercussions doing so might have.

OSD.exe info can be found here.

Try to disable as much background apps as possible.
Do you encounter any problem hitting the Caps Lock when not in games?

Your answer was already posted, disable the osd.exe process as that is what displays the "Caps Lock: ON" "Caps Lock: OFF" notification. It's Alienware's On Screen Display. Keep in mind this will also disable notifications of your volume control and wifi control when you use your control panel just above your numpad.

I was just looking at this and I'm not seeing that status message when depressing the CAPS LOCK key. Can anyone on Vista confirm they are seeing it as well? Odd. I haven't disabled any of the OSD components so that wouldn't be a reason for me not to see it. Hmmmm...

Ok got its the bluetooth software I just uninstalled it seeing how I dont use any bluetooth device, problem solved :) Sweet! N it only happened when I played COD4. Thanks for all the help!

Open up MSCONFIG or use CCleaner and disable it (BTTray.exe) from launching at startup. I have it disabled as I consider it unecessary for my situation. It is your BlueTooth Task Tray icon. If you want to access BT functions, just use the control panel.

Leave OSD alone. Its not necessary to disable it as you have found what is responsible - why I don't see that CAPS Lock message, since I have BTTray disabled on startup.
