    Greetings all,

I've noticed there are some threads about stuttering and lock ups while gaming and Im experiencing these aswell.
When I try to play Call of Duty 4 or any other game with the high performance GFX card (8800GTX) my laptop will lock up within 1-5 minuts of gametime (altough sometimes i can play for a good 20-30 minuts, or sometimes days on end and then other times it locks after 1 minut), however when i play the same game with the same GFX card BUT in stealthmode , im able to play endlessly (ofcourse giving me horrible framerate) so i was wondering if this is the same problem...
someone suggested it was the DPC latency issue but i have no idea if this applies to me.. sometimes the sound will be on endlessrepeat untill i do forced reboot , or sometimes it just reboots out of itselve.

I have tried to format and reinstall the drivers, latest drivers
I have dusted out the fans and grills
I also tried measuring the temp but neighter GPU or CPU tend to go over 70
(using Speedfan, dunno if that is accurate) altough im not sure of this if he doesn't go over 70 but when i Alt + TAB i haven't seen it o over that ammount. ofcourse atm im in stealthmode

Anyone else know what else I could try? I been wanting to try a laptop cooler pad, but i don't know if its a heating issue since my laptop will lock after 1 minut of gaming time even when he hasn't been on all night.

    Thank you,
    Zelt!x

Use hwmonitor LINK. It will record your maximum temperature. It looks like your GPU is downclocking. Try playing a game, and not in stealth mode, and let us know what is your max temperature.

thank you for your responce dhoang,

Temperature was alright never went above 80 , but the he locked up before it could even reach 80, (1 minute game time , and then he eighter freezes with sound, or I got a blue screen and had to reboot also)

After installing the newest driver i got the message that nvl... .exe crashed and has recovered , he didn't crash , but i got black screens all the time so the game was still un playable... I did a FurMark test which verified that my GFX card was still working , at 88 the fans went to full power , and my system didn't lock up or go black screen or blue screen....

After a bit of fiddling i found out that my problem was resolved by installing this driver : m15x_VGA_Nvidia_Vista_175.80_beta
Seems to be one of the only onces I don't have any problems with, the earlier onces cause lock ups, the newest give me the black screen and recover...

If anyone has this problem, this might work for them aswell... just my 2 cents

thank you for your reply :)
