Is it just me or is the US getting a much better deal? I'm almost ready to buy my M17x in the UK. Obviously for some strange reason I put up with the fact that the system is automatically going to be a lot more expensive in £ than in $. Then I start reading about US discounts in places like Microstore? Or discounts (like 25%) being offered at Alienware road shows in the US. I cant find a single discount coupon in the UK or sniff of any deals or retailers outside of Alienware..
Then I find that I can't get the laser engraving that you get in the US. There are threads on here that say this is available in the UK and if anyone knows how this is possible please let me know. I've made several calls and everyone at Dell say it isn't available.
OK, I think, so I'm going to have to pay a lot more and won't get the engraving. Maybe I'll treat myself to an Alienware bag. Oh! Try clinking on the Alienware accessories on the UK sight and the US. Completely different. There are no Alienware bags listed on the UK sight. I hate Dell. I want to deal with Alienware!!!

We have similar issues out here in Australia. Unfortunately, its just one of those things that can't be helped. I for one am quite happy that Dell and Alienware are now the same. I've always liked the Dell support and warranty.

When I read the title I thought there was going to be some type of benchmarking competition. Too bad.

same here. But understand your pain.
Mine has a US keyboard. Want a UK/Eire one
hate the damn \ being in the wrong place -
You can get M980nu for over £800 cheaper for the same config, AND have a larger screen and an extra HDD bay
Alienware in EU with the m17x is a ripoff -
- Y'mean like 240V vs 110V, or like cut-down EU Sony PS3 minus the Emotion Engine Chip?
I'm glad it didn't turn out into US >>>> EU suxx0rzz M17x thread!
Anyhow - for the constructive bit - yeah, UK prices taking the p*ss. I like my M17x, well overpriced, and definitely could get better bang for £/ with another laptop, but part of it is the ownership kudos I guess.
+side - decent machine. -side - UK Dell Customer Support (out of Hyderabad) is abysmal (*). AW Technical Support is out of Slovakia (pretty decent and very helpful guys, although when I spoke to them, they did not have the exact M17x to test things out on to compare).

(* Items missing from box. 8 calls to Dell Account Manager (mainly to chase failed promises to call back). No clue on Consumer Law, and rights of customer for refund, or recompense when AW change their mind on Personal Engraved Plate without warning or substitute. Lack of apology for **ss poor service, and lack of general courtesy and professionalism. General disinterest in resolving issue (sale already done). Unable to make a decision on own (always having to refer to manager, who would never come to phone to speak directly). Blind transfer to other departments (4 hops) to whom I had to repeat the whole case history over and over and over, before being transferred. Final Customer Service promise to send item, no reference ticket. Never heard from since. Have given up chasing a company for first time *ever* - causing far too much stress.) -

To be honest I had a similar lack of professionalism and an extremely similar level of service dealing with the tech support guys as well, except my calls to thier managers and staff must have numbered in the 20s and 30s.
Appalling level of service over here. -
i think it is only cheaper in the us cause there is no vat there. i might be wrong tho

it is cheaper in the US because it is a US business and knows it can get away with the price hike in the rest of the world.
sorry guys but you get the short straw there....at least your government protects you in about 100 ways ours does not...GO CAPITALISM.... -
US Alienware..... FOR US BY US. you should boycott alienware overseas and see if they give in.
