I am using Ubuntu 9.04, basically working on a port of AuroraLigthsFX for Linux - excited? me too..
ok the problem, it does not shut down properly I guess and every time I start it it tries to load with just 10-20% of loading bar finished and then turn off automatically. I had to try 4-5 times every time on boot to pass the 50% of the loading bar and after that it actually loads fine and get me into desktop.

Once loaded, I have not faced any issue apart from Audio issue which does not play from on board speakers by default.. I had to tweak it to get it working finally.

I am also not able to sleep/hibernate it. Today I almost cooked my laptop by issuing shutdown from Ubuntu and put it in the bag immediately. forgot to confirm that its not power down yet.

Later realized after 4-5 hours it was still power on and hot like hell... any taker???

I don't know why this should happen. I remember running Ubuntu 8.04 on my m15x and I never had this issue...

I've always found Ubuntu's shutdown dialogs to be wonky. try issuing a shutdown -h now command at a sudo'd command prompt.

or you could alt+f2 and type "gksu shutdown -h now"

it'll prompt for your password, then shut the system down.

graceful? not really, but it should work.

did not worked... did shutdown but I noticed that fans were still on and I can hear the noise.... I keep the power button pressed for quite a while nothing happened... then I remember this might not be ubuntu as I faced this few times in Win7 as well... removed the power cord and then keep the power pressed and it did power off now... what is wrong with this guy?
