So after some problems with some games I am running I have decided to upgrade the AW drivers that came with the system. However, after uninstalling the drivers and trying to install the AW 8.57 ones, after a system restart the original 7.4 ATI drivers are back on? I'm not sure what is happening, as well as why ATI has to install the drivers in a command prompt. Anyway, I need help, so any info is appreciated, thank you.

Hey dude,
Please follow the following guide to install drivers:

Ok did that, it uninstalled, but now it won't take the drivers. It lets me install the new ones, but after the reboot is done I have no drivers, just the CCC, ugh! No idea what is wrong!

You have to uninstall the drivers, then install the AW 8.12 drivers (which include the CCC) and THEN install the AW 8.57 drivers (which is just drivers and not CCC) to get it to work.

You need to go to ATIs website and download the latest drivers for the 3870. Make sure you get the package with everything.
Then you need to get mobility modder from guru3d.com and disable UAC.
Then go and uninstall the 3870s drivers in driver manager making sure you check the box asking if you want to uninstall the software.
After that, go into Safe Mode and make sure the vga adapters installed and then go into driver sweeper. Check on ATI, and analyse and clean. Then reboot.
After that, make sure you install the driver to your computer, but stop once you get to install CCC. Then take mob mod and run the drivers folder.
Then go to setup and install. ;x Good luck -
You're right you don't know what I'm talking about. The way alienware packaged the 8.57 drivers its an executable zip which overwrites the 8.12 drivers, but has no catalyst CCC pre-packaged with it. Trust me, I've done it, and this is how you have to do it. Your way works as well, but if you want to use the AW released drivers, thats what you have to do to get the CCC, and their latest version of the drivers.
