There seems to be a fair bit of interest in the upcoming Alienware peripherals, so I figured a thread combining all the known info on these products would be practical and helpful. Some of the information below are based on reasonable guesses on my part.
Alienware Mouse
![]()
This mouse is, like the keyboard below, presumably the result of a collaboration between Alienware and one of the world's leading peripherals manufacturers, Logitech.

- sweat-resistant, grippy coating
- Teflon feet
- LED-based DPI display
- buttons for on-the-fly DPI switching

Estimated Price: $80
Alienware Keyboard
![]()
Again, presumably the result of Alienware working with Logitech.
Specs:
- six customizable gaming keys left of the normal keyboard
- six media control buttons
- three switchable profiles
- sound mute button
- slider for disabling keyboard backlighting
- keyboard backlighting, fully compatible with Alienware's AlienFX software
- illuminated Alienhead logo

- integrated USB hub
Release Date: Q3 or Q4 of 2009.
Estimated Price: $120
Alienware Flatscreen Monitor
![]()
Nothing exciting here - just an Alienware-branded flatscreen monitor, presumably from the Dell lineup.
Release Date: Q3 or Q4 of 2009.
Estimated Price: $300
Alienware Curved Monitor
![]()
This is certainly the most interesting of Alienware's upcoming peripherals. My research has revealed that the monitor was developed and is being built by an OEM called Ostendo Technologies. Alienware just rebrands the monitor and sells it (as does NEC). the monitor itself consists of four separate DLP monitors next to each other.
Note: the image above does not do the monitor justice, in reality, you won't see any sort of lines between the separate monitors.
Specs:
- 43" screen size
- 2880x900 resolution (double WXGA+)
- 10,000:1 contrast ratio
- 0.02ms response time
- 200 nits brightness
- 68.7 billion colors
- weight: 20.7kg
- input: single-link DVI-D or HDMI
- connectivity: at least 1xUSB
- size:

Release Date: Q3 of 2009 (NEC's version is available starting July)
Estimated Price: $7,999 (not joking here)

I was reading an article in laptop about accessories today and thought about this. I like the AW mouse but I cut the cord years ago.
-
Great work Whizzo!
I like your style how you write, like the (not joking here)
Greetings
Julian -
Cool.
Would be nice if there was a wireless option for the mouse with an on/off switch. -
Ah hmm ... I am not sure wheather I got this right but I thought the "I need help" threads should go here and all others go in "Side Topics"?
I don't want to play plice but I just whant to know for my self
Greetings

I only miss a second thumb button
Greetings
Julian -
The curved display is actually DLP based (just to clear up any confusion).
-
-
If they put flat keys and less space to dust get into the keyboard it would be perfect for me
.
-
Does SB know wheather the FX Lightling will work with the m17?
Greetings
Julian -
are backlit keyboards like an AW signature or something? =P no complaints, i think its cool it just seems like their all backlit
-
+ rep Whizzo I suck @ presenting stuff...I guess I will leave that up to you
-
good stuff. i was really interested in that curved display since they unveiled the m17x system and it's accessories. $7k+ price tag for a very big, depth-wise, is kind of a turn off to me tho. i really wish the depth was the size of today's LCD's.
-
if it's truly a logitech teamed keyboard... it will have backlit "long stroke" keyboard like the G15's. Once the keyboard breaks in they tend to get loud as well. I'm partial to laptop keyboards due to the short and quiet strokes.
-
Jesus, that curved monitor is expensive.
-
And BTW logitech backlit isn't that good too... I wonder if this time it will be better. -
-
Well, the g15's were some of the first ones to have the backlights. It's not blinding, it's just enough to see the characters in poorly lit places. Sure, it's no AW backlit keyboard, they're super bright. And to be honest, I think the keyboard on my m17x is my favorite keyboards, you're right... flat > curved keys.
-
And according to this you should be able to blow your $8k in July! -
Well, flat = flat. (the keys with little or no concave.)
The g15's have concave keys. and they have long key-strokes. -
-
no the M17x keyboards can bee seen during the day time trust me
-
-
is the lag really that bad in wireless ?? but the design of the mouse is great, typically AW
what a about the Logitech gaming pad ? saw some nice vids on youtube about it.... -
Going from a Logitech MX Revolution to a wired Razer Deathadder... yes, wireless is noticable if you are keen enough. Especially if you've used one for years, and change suddenly.
Edit: Oh, and the most interesting part of that shot of the curved monitor is that it appears to be running off of the output on a laptop to the right of the mouse/keyboard. haha -
i never had a wired one, so it will be definitely a change and noticable
-
Any word of a release date for a new 15" laptop?
-
The should be info by August or September so that the college crowd will know
-
Well then won't mind waiting a few more month for a new laptop then.

Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
That curved monitor looks amazing, however doubt most people who want it can actually afford almost 10,000 dollars for a computer monitor. The mouse looks like a G9.
-
Mamba = same
-
wow that curved monitor is cool ... and expensive
-
hey does anyone know anything about an Alienware phone?
kind regards -
I wonder if you can run two of those at once!?
-

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
dam I wish I had grabbed the mouse when it was $49
-
Me to ....... And The keyboard but I am broke now and my habu is good, so it's less painful.
-
i was tossing up between the aw mouse and a razer deathadder, i grabbed the deathadder, couldnt be happier, great mouse.
-
Gotta get my hands on that mouse for my upcoming m15x. If only it came in a wireless version... Now that would be sweet!
