    Hey guys,

Last detail i need to finalize before i place my order:

Do i pay that $150 and get a Blu Ray? I see many of you are upgrading but i am not sure how useful it will be? Perhaps i can save myself the $150? What is the advantage of getting a Blu Ray?

    Please advise!

    I'd never watch blu-rays on my computer...lame.

Applies to computer screens as well, IMO: [IMG]

If you got blu ray DVD or planning to get some then I don't see why. Other than that no.

I believe this is a fairly easy thing to upgrade if you realize at some point that you would really like to have a blu-ray drive. I didn't have one on my last laptop and never missed it. I only got it on this one because I had the money and figured "why not?"

If you're looking for ways to shave cost, and you're not a blu-ray watching while on the go fiend...leaving it off is a great choice.

I am planning to keep the laptop for more than three years so I think Bulray is a must for future storage system.

If you already have a blu ray player (PS3 what not ) don't bother it really isnt that useful unless your going on trips lots and you like to take blu rays. sooner or later slot loading drives will get cheaper and available online

I added the blu ray burner while it was still available. the large capacity of blu ray disc is very attractive for me.
but if it can only read, then I guess the answer is easy. you buy it if you do not have any blu ray players or don't spend the money if you already or planning to buy a ps3. honestly, the picture quality between DVD and blu ray is more depended on what tv you have.

I don't think it's a good idea to get the blue ray. I've seen people having that and only using it like once a year or so. Most people now a days just download the movie off somewhere. A lot of system software aren't going to be on blue rays, because of the costs. So there's no real 'missing out' there. I wanted it once too, but the cons weighed out the pros by a lot. If you really need the blue for whatever reasons, you can just buy a external blue ray for less than a third of the price.
