I have not been on notebookreview for a while. I was waiting for Alienware to supply the 9800gt cards. Around 12/9/08 I order two Geforce 9800 The tech at the time seid they would come with the Fan heatsink setup. But when I got the cards It was just the GPU nothing else. So I had to send them back and the cards I needed where On backorder. I had to wait 2 months before reordering the GPUs.

Today I order 2 more 9800gt Hopefully They are the Right cards.

why did you have to send them back? you'd think it'd be easier to just send another package with the heatsink set...

What I learn is the Heatsink fan are Mounted on the Grapics cards on them selfs. It is one unit. It not something you can buy a grapics card pull the heatsink fan and put on the new gpu. It one solid unit.

I pulled the dual 8600 gpus and when I seen the setup I called alienware and seid it Mounted to the Fans. I would say Welded together or gluded some how. The fan and gpu you can not take apart. So if your fan went out you have to replace the Gpu also.

The M15X the gpu/heatsink can be pulled apart.

You hit the nail on the head ryujin. The GPU and Fans are one unit. Which confused me and the Alienware tech at the time when I got the frist dual 9800 gpus (cards only)
