I currently have an M17 with 2gb RAM and a P8400 2.26GHz.
If I configured my M17 with a T9600 I would have had to pay £385 extra and if choosing an X9100 then I would have to had payed £656 extra.
Ebay currently has the T9600 for £200 and the X9100 for £350.
Is there a big difference in terms of performance and speed to warrant an extra £150?
Is 4GB of DD3 So-DIMM no-brand-name worth £96.59 http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=CT2KIT25664BC1067
or should I pay the extra for a brand name?
Thanks.

i dont see how the 4GB ddr3 is a no name brand, its crucial!! but to me i think its a good deal.
as for the cpu, i think that u shud get the T9600 but if u really need the BEST then u can get the X9100. personally, im fine with a P8400, i never do anything too cpu intensive. -
How many Euros for the T9800? It's 2.93Ghz.
Oh and please don't diss my beloved Crucial like that. -

Your graphical performance depends heavily on your CPU speed. I did the same thing. I got the P8600, and a week later bought an X9100. The 9600 is a good choice, but the X9100 runs at 3.06Ghz, or 3.33Ghz if you ever decide to void your warranty and flash the OCZ BIOS to your laptop.
As for the RAM, I also got 2GB initially. I'm a heavy gamer, and the differences between 2 and 4GB was night and day. My system was actually using part of my pagefile as RAM when I was playing Crysis, which caused unstable frame rates and bad performance in general. Your laptop can run 1333Mhz RAM, too. I found it to be less expensive than the 1066 for some reason. I got 4GB of OCZ for $135 USD.
So the M17 depends on CPU speed for graphical performance, if you can afford the X9100, get it. If not, the 9600 will work great too. -
OK thanks for the tips guys.
I think I will go for the T9600 and the RAM.
So the RAM is a brand name and was that the right brand on the link? -
yep, you should be good with that choice of RAM.
