I'm looking to add another gig of RAM to my machine, though i went to both crucial's and corsair's website, and according to their little memory configurator, it claims the m9750 can run PC2-6400 memory. i was just checking to make sure that it runs PC2-5300 memory, but it listed the PC2-6400 memory as well.

is this compatible? doesn't that memory run at 800mhz? wouldn't it be a waste of money (though they're roughly the same price) if it's going to clock it back to 667mhz?

it will downclock to 667mhz, ergo it would be a waste of money to go for PC2-6400 RAM.

you do know the m9750 only supports 2.5Gb RAM due to chipset limitations, right?

provided i run in SLI. i don't get any benefit from using SLI in photoshop, but adding more RAM helps.

my curiosity is why would they advertise the 6400 RAM when it will just downclock to the 5300 RAM. on many websites they cost the same price.
