Ok guys I am wanting to upgrade the graphics card in my m5700. I am looking at a Nvidia go7900. I currently have the nvidia 6800 and it doesnt run a whole lot of games. I know the 7900 is not a big jump from the 6800.

Is their any other video cards that I can slap in this puppy that are better than the 7900?

occording to http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/Table.html, the highest you'll be able to go is 7900 GS with 512mb. Still, that's a decent card. i believe you can get it from mxm-upgrade directly.

thanks whizzo thats just the help I was needing. I saw a 6800 like mine going for 400 bucks on ebay? I know this is not a realistic price, but what would the 6800 be worth resale?

i'd say practically nothing, because that card is way old. we're at 9-series now, mobile-wise at least. so... maybe a few bucks for someone who wants to upgrade too, but i don't think more than 100$, possibly much less

Would going to an 8600GT 512MB require any modification? And quite frankly is it worth the 250 its going to cost me or is there other places to find these cards? I looking for something that will not require to much modding to work. I do have a dremel and cutting is not a problem.

I just want to be able to play quake wars or css without my video being choppy.

i don't think the 8600gt will fit. physically, in terms of heat generation, and in terms of power draw. and the MXM connector is probably the wrong one too :D

about the games: is is choppy even on the lowest settings?
