    Well its been about a year of very happy m15x use as my primary computer after years of swearing id never have a laptop, but its time to upgrade it i feel
    Which is odd as i have never upgraded laptop but i looked on alienwares site and it seems pretty managable

    I currently have xp -> Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80GHz -> 2 gigs of ram -> and a NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT

    Does anyone have any advice on what to upgrade too ?
    Many thanks

    CPU: up to X9000 w/ 2.8GHZ. the smart choice would be T9300 w/ 2.5GHZ or T9400 w/ 2.6GHZ to make sure it doesn't overheat.

    GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9800M-GT or ATi HD3870, both with 512MB. the Nvidia card is the better choice here.

    RAM: up to 8GB, the smart choice would be 4GB and a 64bit OS.

    I have a similar machine (well twice the ram, vista and a 2.5ghz cpu) I have had mine close to a year now. I don't plan on upgrading the GPU ever-I'll just buy a new machine (2 more years maybe more) but I do want windows 7 in 64 bit. Think I'm good on ram for a few years also

    Besides the Extreme CPU's such as the X7900 and X9000 both running @ 2.8Ghz, what is the fastest CPU that the m15x can be upgraded with ??? I am guessing the T9500 @ 2.6GHz ??

    I know it uses the PM965 chipset but will the BIOS recognize and work with any of the new 1066Mhz FSB processors ?? Thanks for any info. God Bless :)

    Yeah I would personally save some money and upgrade to the t9300 which is the best bang for buck CPU and use the savings to get yourself that 9800m gt
