    Hey everyone,

I've had my M11x for about 3 weeks now, as a replacement for my HP dv5. Yesterday I noticed that they both have the same AC-adapter plug. the only difference is, the one for the HP is a 90W adapter.
So, I was wondering what would happen if I stick that one in my M11x. I'm a bit hesitant to try, because I don't want to fry my new laptop of course :)
Would it charge faster or something? I really don't have a clue, so I hope you van provide me with some answers.

    Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend that you use another brand of AC adapter on the M11x. First of all, it likely won't work. Second of all, you could potentially damage your motherboard and/or system. The adapter that came with your system has been tested and qualified as the appropriate wattage for the M11x, so there isn't a need to go to a higher wattage adapter.

I second what is written in the previous post, if the adapters polarity, voltage and current output arent right then you will without a doubt fry something.

I didn't even bother taking out the stock 65W adapter that came with the M11x. I'm using the 90W adapter from my xps1640, works just fine. In the BIOS it actually recognizes it as a 90W adapter. The battery will charge faster with the 90W if you're doing stuff (like games I suppose ;)) on it while charging.

All laptop chargers have the inside pin as positive and the outside negative. BUT DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. Look at the charger on your HP, it should show you the pinout which is + and which is -.

Mmm.. but in some ways, Dell and Alienware are the same now.
