I want to do a secure erase on my Intel SSD with HDD Erase.
    http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=669&type=expert&pid=6

However, my M17x's BIOS has to be in legacy IDE and I have to manually disable AHCI for the utility to work.

Can anyone give me tips on how to do this?
I can't seem to know if I am even on Legacy IDE or if I am in AHCI.

The reason why I am asking this is because my intel SSD can't be detected by HDDerase that I downloaded with Ultimateboot CD.

Just use DBAN like everyone else.

I don't like the way it erases by writing over every block. It actually slows my SSD.

There is a legacy AHCI mode.

Not sure if that's the same as legacy IDE but you can give it a try :)

Isn't that what any program would do to securely erase the disk?

It's also probably the easiest way to do it, unless you want to destroy it or use a multi-thousand dollar degausser
