but every coffee sho has like 30-40 people with macbooks, they're a dime a dozen in montreal where I am from, no one wants that. What turns more heads is when someone is using something different in the mcghill ghetto then a macbook pro that thier rich parents gave them as a school supply.

The transition to BGA has killed my liking for the new Alienwares. I think the last Alienware laptop I'll be buying is the Alienware 18 (2013 model) as it isn't a solderjockey.

I owned an mALX back in 2007. I was in a Starbucks and this hot lady comes by and say "wow that is big!" "Is it HARD to carry?" It was all I could do not to burst out laughing :)

People always seem to be impressed with my Alienware laptop. Although I now own a Alienware 17 which still catches peoples attention and makes them want to enquirer about it, the M17x R4 certainly turned more heads and perked peoples interest more.

I've received nothing but positive comments or general curiosity, though I am in the 30's age bracket. I bring mine to work, daily, with pride.

Ah the McGill ghetto. Brings back memories (I graduated from McGill in 2004).

On-topic, a lot of people are astounded a laptop could be so big. I reply that if you want to do anything actually demanding, a thin ultrabook is pretty much useless. If all you use your thin laptop for is web surfing and watching Youtube, a tablet will suffice.

Some also think the AW is overpriced garbage, that you paid too much. People saying this are typically using a Lenovo Y50. They are ignorant of the quality and support that comes with this price (or used to, anyway).

Macbooks are pretty trendy. Pair it with an iPhone 6 plus and you'll be the trendiest guy in starbucks.

It looks like our language filter is not working correctly. Please be mindful of forum rules. I deleted two posts with vulgar language. This is not acceptable.

Here is a link to our Forum Rules for those that need to familiarize themselves with the terms and conditions of participating as a member of this community.
