I dont know whats going on, but after i turn on my M17x and work for awhile, sometimes just an hour or 2, it slows down Tremendously, itll get so slow it takes me 15-20min just to shut down my programs and restart it. Everytime it slows down i have to shut it down and restart it.
I run virus scans, defrag, spybot and CCleaner.
i have 317GB free of 451GB
OS is Windows 7
Only games i have on it now are WoW and Halo: CE
What is the problem and how could i fix it?

Did u install the latest driver from Dell..? Are u in Stealth mode? Check your bios in your graphic setting and disable the both... Do u still facing the lag while you're on game?
-
latest drivers, played with performance settings, still gettin slow after awhile.
-
Sound like a ram leak ... When it slows down go to task manager and check your memory usage
-
task manager says memory usage is 71% at a slow point
-
Ram leak is your problem.
Get rid of the command center crap -

Yeah for me, after a while, 'AlienFusion' something takes up like 7gigs of ram or something ridiculously high, close it through task manager and you'll be fine, i'm actually here looking searching for a solution to it if there is one
-
still gettin really super slow after awhile... Physical memory up to 97% at slow point
-
like he just said kill alienfusion.exe and that will fix it. I cannot explain it any other way.
uninstall command center -

Does anyone know if Dell/Alienware is working on this problem?
-
It was in the old command center as well as the new one so the problem has been around since the birth of the m15x.
If they haven't fixed it yet..... I wouldn't hold my breath -
i removed and unistalled command center i still have memory usage at 97%
-
Just a question, but what virus software are you using and supplementing with spybot? If none of the other fixes have worked try un-installing your virus suite and spybot and see how your M17x works after that.
-
im using Norton 2010 with spybot
-
ok them post a screen shot of your task manager

Nathrezin,
A screen shot of task manager like Moo said would be great. Also, I used to use Norton 2010 and actually liked it for about three weeks. After about the third week it became slower than my grandma running a marathon.
Norton is a good product but try KracsNZ suggestion. If that does not work and you are not downloading questionable content, like free music or "fun" pics and vids, try un-installing Norton or Spybot.
The the un-installs one at a time, as to see if one is causing a problem with the other. It is rare that issues like Norton and Spybot fighting occur but it has happened. -
where can i re-download command center? since that wasnt the problem

All drivers can be found here for your M17x

it was norton that was causing the slowness, i un-installed it and it didnt go slow anymore
-
Just to be sure, re-install Norton and un-install Spybot and see what your results are, if you have not already.
-
seems to be running fine now. memory usage is way down, about 30% instead of 80-90
-
your memory usage is fine.. i'am about 30 % too.. =) cheers
