Yeah, I can't modify the voltage using svet's vbios tuner :(. But when I edit the orginal, I seem to get the illusive throttling that slvl7 fixes.

Have you tried to modify the voltage using NVIDIA Inspector or EVGA Precision X? Svet's vBIOS tuner hasn't been useful for me since GTX 580M. That utility ended up being a total waste of money.

I sent svet the vbios and he edited it with what I wanted, as well as is going to release an update for svl7's vbios so we can edit more of it.

You know that with svl7's vbios mod, the voltage is readily controllable using nvidia inspector? I'm using the GTX 780m and I have free control over almost everything on the card.

How come? I'm just curious why you prefer less control over more...?

That doesn't even make sense? I have more control over a forever mid then a silly software mod.. More control?

I'm just saying that with svl7's mod, I can have the maximum voltage to whatever I want. A volt modded vbios will still be limited to that particular max voltage. What if one day you decide you are unsatisfied with that voltage and want to move higher or lower? With svl7's I can do that whenever I want without flashing.

Firmware is software. Firmware mods are extremely useful to fix screwed up code that impairs performance (like GPU boost, for example). I agree with what Brother widezu69 is saying. Where adjustments are available for voltage there is no advantage to mod the firmware and you would be limiting your options by doing that. The voltage adjustment using software within Windows is completely effective and you can change it on the fly. That makes using the svl7/johnksss 780M vBIOS mod extremely beneficial.

I don't trust Inhouse windows voltage mods. I understand the ease of it but as stated I prefer flashing. To maximize dealing with less software induced overclocks.

Well, in the "for what it is worth category" the enthusiasts that hold the benchmark world records with GTX 780M are using the "in-house voltage mods" without any complications, and having reliable adjustments that work consistently is less of a risk than flashing every time you wish to change the voltage. It's totally OK for you to have a personal preference otherwise in this regard, just wanted you to know it is very reliable and no issues have been identified.

Clearly, however as you know brother fox, windows can have errors. I like to cut as much errors that could arise out of it. BUT AGAIN. As stated all of this was just my personal preference. Thanks again for all clarification!

Svet's tool supports the 7 series of cards for me.

    He skipped the 6 series.

Hmm, support must have come later. Last time I checked it didn't work. It's interesting the tool works now that it is least needed with a truly unlocked Kepler. Maybe just bad timing.

It is a recent change he made to it and like I say the 6 series is still not supported.

Well, I don't need it for either one now since I am rocking an excellent vBIOS for both 680M SLI and 780M SLI. But, it's good to know it will work for the 780M SLI in the 18 if I change my mind at some later point in time. It was kind of sad after buying it for 580M that I could never use it again.

It's great for making the small modifications to get exactly the right clocks for your system.

Read svet's forum Mr. Fox, I emailed him a copy of the vbios and he used it to fixed it. So now no more Inhouse changes.
