Hey guys,
I just recently received my OCZ whitebook. I installed Vista 64 along with the latest ATI drivers, yet I am getting a score in the 7300's. Can you guys tell me what the problem may be? I am thinking my notebook may not be in crossfire mode. If that is the case, how would I go about enabling it? Thanks

What is your cpu.
you can change the crossfire i think in the bios.
turn your power settings in vista to high performance. -
I have a p9500 2.53 ghz and the settings are on high performance. I will probably check the bios next, thanks.
-
Post temperatures via GPU-Z or HWmonitor if you can. Could be a poor GPU install.
-
-
What kind of scores are you getting ichime? My configurations are identical to yours except for my processor (p9500).
-
enable Crossfire in CCC.
-
There seems to not be an option to enable crossfire, either that or I cannot find it.
-
I get around 11,200. I meant to ask, what temps are you getting right after the run? Not sure if it's a Crossfire issue as both cards are reported in HWMonitor and the only way you can really disable Crossfire is by disabling Catalyst A.I. Maybe check to see if the box next to that option is ticked (should be under "Catalyst AI" under "3D" in the catalyst control center (advanced) ) -
-
Must remember that.
I used to have it always disabled on my old X1400, because most games were going wacky when it was on...
Cheers -
I notice that my GPU temp max out at around 85 C. I love the notebook so far, but I really believe that it could be a lot better than it is now. I will check the bios tomorrow. Thanks a lot for everyone's help.

I reformatted my notebook again and reinstalled everything. I am still getting very low scores. I do not see a crossfire mode at all in my catalyst. Could that be the problem?

K, it's probably a poor GPU install. If you feel comfortable with handling electronic hardware, there is an online manual for the whitebook here. Go to page 49 which shows you how to remove and replace the VGA boards (the GPUs). You'll need an extra pack of Arctic Silver 5 because you'll need to reapply it again.

Upgrade to a newer driver version, as the one you're using is old anyhow if using the AW 8.8 Catalyst package. try 8.10 or my 8.12 modded driver - of course I suggest the 8.12. Also the new 8.12 package allows you to control the crossfire and manually enable/disable it, unlike the 8.11 and earlier. Catalyst AI has nothing to do with your crossfire setup being enabled..it's just for enabling driver side tweaks. Check out this thread, hopefully these drivers will work better for you.

Erm, how exactly do you disable crossfire with the 8.12 drivers ?
Dont have that option in CCC
-
Right click the Icon in the taskbar.. Then the menu that pops up should have a crossfire option..you may have to hover over the HD 3870 menu to see Crossfire options. but, simple as that.

Where exactly ?

Had to send my box back to Alienware for the same problem, and approx the same scores (mine were lower overall, though). I'm still waiting to hear from them as to what the problem is. We suspected either a loose card or perhaps a non-functioning card.
-
I have question about those benchmarks. I have 3DMark6 but I have no idea what settings I should set to run reliable test for my m17. Any clues?
-
just use the default settings, so you can compare your scores to those achieved with the demo version.
-
Cool, if you turn on that Crossfire option it will display the Crossfire logo when the cards sync up in game/benchmarks. Guess you can't "turn off" crossfire tho
-
Yea thought so
But seems like disabling the AI does the job since my fps in games drop in almost in half when i disable that. -
Depends on what you're running.. The AI may/may not disable crossfire. I know it does in 3dmark.
Very Low 3Mark6 Scores
