Good morning gents. Ive flashed a different VBIOS to my GPU for a few reason. The flash takes and the computer recognizes the card and runs fine until I try a game. When I go to play a game the crash occurs, freezes the game, and then the driver recovers. I went from a 280 > 285.

Any ideas on how to fix the problem, other than going back to the stock VBIOS.

    Try a different driver version.
Should've posted in the legacy subforum.
You should also state that the 280m is the MXM 2.1 one. Also the current vBios on your cards is it from a 2.1 or 3.0?
    What drivers is JDELUNA using?

Man Katalin you are everywhere :) Yes sir, I posted here for more exposure. And yes gents I went from a GTX 280m 2.1 MXM to GTX 285 MXM 3.0 BIOS. And like I said everything works, GPUZ recognizes it as a GTX285 card. But the drivers crash, same thing has happened when I flashed a 9800m GTX bios.

OK Ill explain why Im doing this. Im trying to regain the SLI feature present in apparently everything but a GTX280m MXM 2.1 card :)

Well customising/modding is my life :p
In this case why don't you try a dell driver at first and see if it's a succes, if yes we have at least a path.
Give the P06 beta a try. click here hope you're running windows 7 x64
Also don't forget the uninstall routine (which is very important).

    Let us know.

Mmmmm I didnt even think about the dell drivers, good call. Thats exactly what the manufacture is listed as right now under GPUZ. At first I was thinking that mabe the voltage was set to high and that the cards were getting enough power for their settings. But the GTX285 BIOS is set at .95 so we are good there.

I had this problem with my CLEVO x7200 with the GTX 485 called support and took a screen shot and they told me the card needed to be replaced. I had the machine for 9 days. WOW

You would probably get more assistance if this was posted in the proper subforum for your specific model Alienware system.
