Since im bored... If im not mistaken you can install Vista 64bit (currently running 32bit) using the 32bit version cd key right ?
So ill probably just do another format (probably my 5th on this laptop) and install the 64bit version since i have a cd laying somewhere.
Since all/most drivers in My hive are for 32bit version of Vista, does anything have a "decent" connection and is kind enough to upload all the 64bit drivers somewhere for me to download ?![]()
As for software, is there any known issues with programs not running or having issues ? Just to be prepared![]()

Hi
This are all the drivers I downloaded ...
http://support.alienware.com/Suppor...rocessed.aspx?os=WV64&cat=32&manu=8&item=1152
I selected in the DL Area "Vista 64 / Mobile System / m17"
I hope this time I can help YOU
Greetings

Looks like everything is there, except from the Wireless drivers which might be included in some of the drivers
Now... To find the dvd... -

Vista has wireless drivers built-in, I think.

Windows will install with no key. You'll have 30 days to activate it. Microsoft will pester you to activate, and they will let you buy a key from the website.

Buying a key costs like £50-60 ? Buying the cd only costs like.. erm £5 ?
-
Erm, AW ships the notebooks with OEM version windows right ?
Meaning i cant really use the key for the 64bit installation ? -
Question is how long it will take from order to "have it" ... tha price isn't the problem
Does sb did this befor?
Greetings
Julian
Edit: I'm not quite sure but I thinke you are right ... install Vista64 should be no problem -
Well buying a new 64bit version isnt worth the money since win7 is "around the corner". And surely it doesnt worth the money for that minor upgrade
So if its not possible to use the 32bit key for the 64bit installation then ill just wait to spend those money on win7 -

Not sure if OEM keys work or if you need a retail key for that ;(
-
I think an OEM key would work with the OEM copy of windows...would need a retail key for the retail version I suspect...
-
Aha, thats good news... Back to dvd searching then
-
there was a big debate about this on the m15x forum from findvikas they said it worked for them on it since finvikas custom modded everything to work and people used there 32bit key on 64 bit vista
