Vista or XP for the m15x

I'm going to order the m15x and was wondering if i should buy it with vista or XP. I heard vista has been having some problems, are those resolved? and has anyone encountered problems with vista on their m15x?
Oh and also can i put a 12-cell battery in place of the 6-cell. I know you can put another 6-cell into the smart bay but I'd rather just have one and leave the optical drive in.

If it was me I would pick Vista. I have a dual boot on mine and I have to say both run great the only thing is that AlienFusion does not work in XP there is no way to get it to work because vista has more power options. My advice would be to stick with Vista. I don't think they make a 12-cell battery for the m15x.

 

yea i think the only way is too get the smart bay battery. swaping the drives is not a big deal. also vista is great for this machine. i do get some crashs with steam games( which on vista is normal). but imo its not worth running xp insted or dual booting, because of this issue.

 

Wow, really? alienfusion doesn't work with xp? well thats a huge draw back. thanks for the quick reply!

 

yeah that pretty much makes up my mind for getting vista. thanks for all the help!!! i can't get over how quick that was. haha

 

yeah Alienfusion doesn't work and of course Alienfusion is used to change power options. Steam runs great on my Xp side

 

whats the battery life with just the 6-cell battery in stealth mode with moderate to little use? I keep getting different answers the more i research.

probably around 1.5 to 2 hrs with 1 6 cell now if u turn on integrated graphics you get maybe 2.5 to 3.5 of course all this depends on what u have on and how much ur using it.

 

ok thanks! thats actually really good because the only time that i will be using it a lot is when it will be plugged in. i have just a couple more questions: how hot/noisy does it get (ive heard mixed reviews on this issue) and hows customer support, ive heard some pretty bad stories about them.

 

ummm yeah well... CS by my experience 4 out of 10 not the best in the world but if you set your mind on what you want order it online everything should be ok(make sure you read over ur order 2 or 3 times). Again heat depends on what your doing and on what power plan ur using can get pretty warm if on high performance and your playing games. Normal use its ok not to loud unless it reaches a certain temp then you hear the fans once the temp is down then your ok.

haha...one more really quick question, sorry im prob really getting annoying by now but it does have a right click correct? because in the pics you cant see the line separating the two.

 

there isn't a line separating the 2. depends on which side of the button u push but yes it does have a right and left.
